The only part of this man's life that I was concerned with / respected is the fact that "Where the Wild Things Are" was one of my favorite childhood stories. I could have lived the rest of my life not knowing he was a rump ranger and could care less now that I do know.
Maybe the newspapers didn't harp on whether or not Mr Sendak was a pitcher or catcher because it wasn't his faggotry that made him famous. Maybe they didn't bring it up because not everyone tries to make something about being queer.
