We're going to see more and more of this sort of thing over the next six months, as the Magic One's hold on power begins slipping further and further away.
The primitives are going to grasp at every straw they can, to prove the Magic One'll win.
What happened in France and Greece--
other than the anti-incumbent sentiment--is pretty much meaningless for divining what's going to happen here. As mentioned elsewhere, America and Europe do not move in tandem; and in fact most of the time (at least in my own lifetime) they move in opposite directions.
But the primitives are going to grasp any straw that sticks out, "foretelling" a Magic One victory.
Pretty soon the primitives will "read" an obscure by-election in North Nottinghamshire in which an obscure conservative is narrowly defeated by an obscure liberal, as portending a November victory for the Democrats.
And by mid-summer, the primitives'll be reduced to watching local elections in Rwanda and Surinam and Mauritius, hoping to find clues there, that we're moving left.
Straws don't hold very well.
