Not even a MOH recipient can have his day free from snark

This is courage. Not Sandra Fluke testifying before Congress. Not some stoner camping out in the town square.

President Obama to Award Medal of Honor
Source: The White House

WASHINGTON, DC—On May 16, President Barack Obama will award Specialist Leslie H. Sabo, Jr., U.S. Army, the Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry.

Specialist Sabo will receive the Medal of Honor posthumously for his heroic actions in combat on May 10, 1970, while serving as a rifleman in Company D, 3d Battalion, 506th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division in Se San, Cambodia.

On that day, when he and his platoon were ambushed by a large enemy force, Specialist Sabo immediately charged the enemy position, killing several enemy soldiers. He then assaulted an enemy flanking force, successfully drawing their fire away from friendly soldiers and ultimately forcing the enemy to retreat. While securing a re-supply of ammunition, an enemy grenade landed nearby. Specialist Sabo picked it up, threw it, and shielded a wounded comrade with his own body - absorbing the brunt of the blast and saving his comrade's life. Although wounded by the grenade blast, he continued to charge the enemy's bunker. After receiving several serious wounds from automatic weapons fire, he crawled towards the enemy emplacement and, when in position, threw a grenade into the bunker. The resulting explosion silenced the enemy fire, but also ended Specialist Sabo’s life. His indomitable courage and complete disregard for his own safety saved the lives of many of his platoon members.

Specialist Sabo's widow, Rose Mary Sabo-Brown and his brother, George Sabo, will join the President at the White House to commemorate his example of selfless service and sacrifice.

It starts out respectful enough. But then, as sure as the Sun rises:

It led to a messy protest on May 4th at a university in Ohio named Kent State.

WTH does that have to do with this soldier's sacrifice?

How dare the Kenyan usurper award Medals of Honor. Would St Ronnie (PBUH) have awarded Medals of Honor to soldiers? It's a disgrace! (© All Republicans

Most CMOH's are posthumous. A living CMOH winner is a priceless treasure.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

One correction to what you said...and it's a common...innocent mistake...it's MOH recipient...they didn't win anything doing what it took to get the Medal.

Other than that you're spot on...a living MOH recipient IS priceless...I've been lucky enough to do the Medal ceremony for LTC Bruce Crandall.  In attendance were 6 other MOH recipients.

The day before the inauguration...I narrated the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs luncheon honoring all of the living MOH recipients.

Talk about not feeling worthy of being in the room.

Ever see the NCIS episode where a MOH recipient turned himself in for killing his buddie in Korea? When the Marine Corps Cops came to arrest him, after they found out he was a MOH recipient the both went to attention and saluted! I know it was fiction, but I'll lay dollars to doughnuts it's exactly how one would be treated!

I know it's how I and everyone here would react, even if I was huntin' him down for skippin'!

(edited to satisfy Tex!)

I was making reference to the proper way to describe them...that's all.

What an honor you TX received to be there.  You say you were lucky to be there, I bet luck had nothing to with it, in some way you must have earned the privilege.

Personally, I wouldn't use the grammatical derivatives of "receive" and "win". I'd use the grammatical derivative of the word "EARN" which is the most accurate description of the entire deed. I know "MOH earner" sounds less majestic than "MOH recipient," and certainly less ambiguous than "MOH winner," but it's one hell of a lot more correct.
