I remember the day the Keith Lockhart was handed the baton of the Boston Pops. They had special on PBS about it. I always wanted to up and see them play.
They ****ed up when they put Lockhart on the podium. John Williams was fabulous, but I'm sure he wanted to compose and not conduct so much.
I can think of DOZENS of worthy conductors, all of whom have better chops than Lockhart. Most of 'em ain't as pretty as he is, though, and some of them I'm thinking of are women.
