1. My mom taught me to use rolled oats in stead of bread crumbs.

Keeps it nice and moist and adds better nutrition.

4. my mom did the same thing and I've done it a few times. I always added another egg, a bit more milk/water so it was the right texture and oats expanded.

2. i tried a lot of different recipes and family and i decided on this one.

Meatloaf Recipe
Ingredients:

1 package Lipton Onion Soup Mix
2 pounds lean ground beef
1 large egg
2/3 cup milk
3 Tablespoons catsup
3 Tablespoons brown sugar
1 Tablespoon yellow mustard

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

2. Mix the onion soup mix, ground beef, egg and milk together.

3. Form the combination into a well packed loaf shape in a 13 X 9 X 2 loaf pan.

4. Combine the rest of the ingredients and spoon onto the top of the meatloaf.

5. Bake uncovered, for about an hour. When done, take the meatloaf out of the pan and place on a serving plate. Let stand for 10 minutes before slicing.

5. I've used quick oats and bread crumbs in the past but the last time I made it I used fresh crumbs from gluten free bread and the usual stuff, onion, herbs and egg. It was wonderful, grass raised meat and all.

6. Tomatoes, onions, green chilis, garlic, zucchini and a slight amount of bread. That's it.

But no meatloaf for me. I used to love it, though.

Pam has all those sisters and she can't call one of them for a cooking tip ?

Last week she was dying in the hospital and now she's cooking meatloaf.   :whatever:

What is it with liberals and gluten?  I understand that a small percentage of people can't eat gluten, but it seems to be political.

It's a phenomenon that seems ubiquitous among the primitives.

They're "allergic" to things good for them, and not allergic to things bad for them.

The defrocked warped primitive's the classic case.  She's "allergic" to milk and other things good for her, but not allergic to chocolate and other sweets.

Granted, there are people lactose-intolerant.....but such people tend to be of Asiatic or African derivation, while the defrocked warped primitive is of northern European derivation, where "dairy" is necessary for human survival.

The only people I've known as adults "allergic" to milk and milk products--minus those of Asiatic or African derivation--are anal-retentive liberals who have no problem gulping down gallons of sugar-water, soda.  I've never known any instance of a person of northern European derivation with a well-balanced ego and a good sense of self, to be "allergic" to milk.

My brother married a woman who needs gluten-free food.  They have two children who also need gluten-free stuff.  When we gather at various family events, gluten-free has to be on the table.  It doesn't really taste any different to me--it is a tad heavier, though, so I find that it fills me up a bit faster.  My brother is conservative, and his wife tends to follow his views.

I actually put kernel corn in my meatloaf...not much though. Served with mashed potatoes it's kinda like a shepherd's pie.

Have none of these DUchebags ever made meatloaf mixed with beef and pork?

Good.  Let them live in their lives of bland crap.  Then again, these are the people who thought chicken enchiladas were made with a watery, soupy sauce and FLOUR tortillas.

You only need one recipe for meatloaf.

I feel bad about posting it, because so many DUmbasses read these threads, and I hate to tip them off to anything good.

But then I consider that few of them do any cooking except with a spoon and a butane lighter.

I make my meatloaf like a giant meatball, but I top it with bacon and Heinz 57.

How about adding some Cyanide, Pam? It's gluten-free and I hear it's earth-friendly.

I take it that bacon makes it better.  Having found the one thing in existence that bacon does not make better, I can appreciate this.
