Did Paul Ryan Really Max Out Filling His Tank?

http://www.care2.com/causes/did-paul-ryan-really-max-out-filling-his-tank.html

Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan has a serious problem. He just can’t manage to buy a tank of gas.

Ryan, illustrating the skyrocketing price of gas, claims he had to bust out two credit cards just to fill his tank up while on a recent trip in Wisconsin with his family. “I can’t even fill up my truck any more because of gas prices…You have to put a new credit card in the system if you actually want to top it off.”

But was Ryan exaggerating? Let’s do some simple math to see.

According to gas trackers in Wisconsin, a gallon of gas runs $3.72 on the low end to $4.19 on the high, and the average gallon in the state as a whole is $3.83.

1. The station sets the card limits for the pump.

Some stations set it arbitrarily low in order to limit the potential loss from the fraudulent use of a credit card.

If Ryan has a problem, it is with the filling station management.

I'm sure the bloggers can figure out exactly what type of car he has LOL..

4. Limit is 70$ where I'm at.

So theoreticallly you could have to use two credit cards if you are in a large truck or SUV.

5. Nothing to do with his credit limit, I'm sure.

It's very common for stations to limit you to $75 per credit transaction. If you're filling up a big tank, $75 is easy to reach at $4+ per gallon. You don't usually have to use a different card, though, just finalize the transaction and re-swipe your card.

6. I haven't filled my gas tank in months

I need the money for other bills, so I have to limit myself to quarter tanks or maybe splurge for half a tank every once in a while and drive only when absolutely necessary. I now carpool to work which helps everyone a little and keeps one less car off the freeways.

And came within maxing out at $100 by a few cents in 07. Never heard anything out of Republucans In 07 other than "supply & demand". Funny how the price of gas was always so high in off-election years When the GOP was in control and how it's high this election year.

16. So

"Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan has a serious problem. He just can’t manage to buy a tank of gas."

...it's hard to scrape together $60 to $80 when one earns more than $170,000 per year?

Idiot!

Well, it's nice to see the primitives are back to discussing issues of importance this election year, instead of whining about what a popular radio celebrity called a tramp.

17. Here where I am in WI

Gas has been about the same for years, so maybe he hasn't noticed before or he maxed out his cards and had to use a couple because of limits on his cards. I'm sure he likely doesn't have limits on his cards unless, like so many repubs he doesn't pay his bills and got a limit and increased interest put on his cards.

On edit: he's the head of the budget committee and he can't even budget his own expenses? So we are just to accept he can work out the country's budget? That's why his Ryan Plan doesn't add up.

All those posts and not one blaming the President.

Whatever happened to the good old days when every woe and misfortune was caused by the occupant in the White House?

Remember that we'll still have the Obamessiah--and his executive orders--and a Dingy Harry Reid-led Senate until January 3rd.  There is no telling what damage Obama could do, by executive order, to punissh the American people for tossing him out of office.

Four years ago, the entire blame was put at the feet of the president of the USA, then when prices went down they still managed to whine and blame Bush for something, here we are 4 years later and the official policy of the Dept of Energy is to do nothing to lower gas prices, instead we need to get tune ups and inflate our tires, meanwhile more taxpayer money is going into green energy, but it's not the president's fault.  :banghead:

Executive orders can be reversed by subsequent executive orders.

The most likely irreparable harm from the muslim is in his lifetime appointment of federal judges and, shudder, Supreme Court justices.

This will be most difficult for you to believe, oh aptly named DUmmie, madmom, but one may responsibly use a credit card and pay off its balance each and every month with the money you so disdain.

Why do YOU have a problem with him using a credit card anyway, DUmmie?

Service Stations limit the amount per pump per transaction ?

That would annoy the hell out of me.

Costs circa $250 for a full fill in my truck - If I had to swipe my card 5 times to do that I'd be ready to spit chips.

Maybe they have this here - but I only go to the hi-flow truck pumps so I'm not standing around for half an hour waiting for the damn thing to fill up so I don't notice it.

It's common that I'll see the previous customer has filled a larger commercial vehicle up before me and has a good 5 or 6 hundred on the meter.

A sitting President can negate any and all executive orders just by his command.

In his first 4 years, he'll do anything to get re elected.

My only concern is replacing retiring justices.

If the muslim is reelected it will be virtually impossible to keep the Supreme Court from taking a hard left turn, even if Republicans regain the Senate.

It may be possible to force him to appoint liberal democrats instead of the raving anti-American communists he'd prefer, but he will put at least a couple more justices on the court.

If that happens, the huge victories for freedom scored by the Rehnquist and the Roberts Courts will be reversed.

That's why a lot of us think the ability to defeat the muslim is infinitely more important than who the candidate is.
