Iraqi teens stoned to death for wearing 'emo' clothes

    BAGHDAD -- At least 14 youths have been stoned to death in Baghdad in the past three weeks in what appears to be a campaign by Shiite militants against youths wearing Western-style "emo" clothes and haircuts, security and hospital sources say.

    Militants in Shiite neighborhoods where the stonings have taken place circulated lists on Saturday naming more youths targeted to be killed if they do not change the way they dress.

    The killings have taken place since Iraq's interior ministry drew attention to the "emo" subculture last month, labeling it "Satanism" and ordering a community police force to stamp it out.

    "Emo" is a genre of punk rock music that originated in the United States in the 1980s. Fans are known for their distinctive dress, often including tight jeans, T-shirts with logos and distinctive long or spiky haircuts.

Stoning kids for being rebellious in their clothing is no way to recruit the younger generation. The kids not stoned to death will grow up and grow old, and will remember. They will likely be more tolerant than their fathers, as the hippie dippies were/are in America.

How horrible for these kids.

Didn't take long to equate murderous muslim fanatics with simple Christians in America.
this is a mantra at DU. any story of muslim abuse must be equated to Christianity.

I must have missed the news articles where Christian "fundies" stoned kids to death for the clothing they were wearing.  Anyone have a link to that article?

All one would have to do is substitute "Christians" for the "emo kids," and "progressives" for the "Muslim fanatics," and you'd be a lot closer to a DU fantasy.

Hell done frozen over!  I agree that if 0bama had not been thinking of his political strategy and for the poor people of Iraq these deaths would most likely not happened. Nor would the rash of bombing and mass killings in Iraq after our all too hasty retreat.

I'd like to know when the last time anything remotly like this happened in the US. Outside of the Salem witch trials which was a different thing altogether, I'm not so sure there is any case where kids of any age or culture were stoned to death because of the clothes they wore.

Most likely DUmmy/emo kid died in the US because they got stoned on too much drugs.

I wonder what Tater Head would do if he found ole Crazy Fred is a Dumocrat?  Crazy Fred run for office a few times in Kansas, and before they disbarred him sued President Reagan (case dismissed).  He's one of theirs. :rotf: :rofl:

Well, actually I believe that comment was for the Muslims livin' in our country. Our Home Land Security, who I doubt could pour piss out of boot with instructions written on the heel, has their hands full enough without pissin' the locals off.

There's enough of the extremists hidin' in these Mosques already. Sure don't need to piss off the peaceful ones so they start hellpin the radicals.
