Okaaaay.
"MadHound" is officially psychotic (Let me guess: He is also a 9/11 troofer, and believes in chemtrails), and though I know it's quite early, I'd say his remarks on that thread alone should be enough to earn him consideration for one of the Top DUmmies of 2012.
"Logical (3,611 posts) Profile Journal Send DU Mail Ignore
1. Someday, maybe 50 years from now, this stupid country will not need a prayer breakfast."
But remember, don't you DARE question the DUmmies' patriotism or portray them as smug, condescending elitists!
jody will likely be tombstoned before too long.
"This is a secular nation, at least nominally, and by continuing to pander and play politics, even if it is just tacitly, with these people he simply continues to allow the further insinuation of religion into our body politic."
1. No, it is not a secular nation. While we allow for freedom of religion, our nation is at its root a Christian nation, founded on Christian principles.
2. There is nothing in the Constitution against "Insinuating" faith into aspects of politics. What the Establishment Clause (Which idiotic, anti- Christian liberals such as MadHound mistakenly believe calls for "separation of church and state") says is that the government is not allowed to establish an official state religion (i.e. the Church of England) that people are forced to follow. The National Prayer Breakfast and other such functions do not violate that in any way.
"Theocratic rule, of any sort, has never worked well, but rather brought mass suffering and pain. We see that in Iran and elsewhere today, so why would it work well here? "
1. We on the right have made the same point regarding Communism and Socialism many times in the past, yet left- wing idiots like the DUmmies still feel that if it were adopted and practiced in America today, it'll somehow turn out differently than it has in any of the countless other nations which have been turned into nightmarish dictatorships through adopting Communism.
2. Iran and other theocracies are Islamic, not Christian. Christianity, unlike Islam, has evolved enough over the centuries that it has easily adapted to modern society, and thus if America were to somehow turn into a Christian theocracy just because a president attended a National prayer Breakfast, it would not cause anywhere near the kind of suffering seen in today's Islamic theocracies, if any suffering at all.
