President Karzai wants to be in on any peace talks with the Teleban and they seem to have at last agreed to talk with him.

Since Obama already tried to stick a knife in his back over the Afghan election, and both he and us have been covertly talking to the Taliban (Directly or not), I can see why he would be a little nervous about this.
