On the future of OWS
So we had Assistant Chief Boyd sing victory songs the other day... WE GOT RID OF THEM... only to have them come back EN FORCE... that is part of the future. We will have a lot of these declarations of victory only to be proven wrong...

While this is humorous... there is more. It is getting more focused and now we move into the Courts, and our rights. You see, over the last ten years or so we Americans have surrendered a lot of our rights. We have surrendered them in the name of security. So the next stage is moving to the COURTS where we will either recover those rights or lose them for a longer term. This is not a fight the Occupiers wanted, but one that happens every time.

The next phase will also include protecting Foreclosure homes from banks. It will also involve a few other things... like further actions with labor.

It will also include BOOKS and ESSAYS, by actual working historians, putting a lie to a Mediatic meme, that they have no message.

Oh and yes, some OWSers will be running for office too.

So welcome to the next phase...

It will be interesting... and the coming year will not be a normal electoral year.

The ramblings of a drunken and insane mind.

2. As long as I get the corner table where I can edit

one of those essays

Edit usually means correcting typos.

3. You're right

The coming year will be interesting. When it becomes believed on a visceral level that the 1% owns the police, military, as well as the politicians, things could get very interesting...

The picture of NYPD pepper spraying a protestor made me react badly, and I'm lazy!

Does anyone else see any parallels between this, and the French revolution?

New tough guy on the scene.

5. No, more like 1848 and

the 1960s...

And if we get to the levels of either France in 1789 or Russia in 1918, be careful what you wish for.

On this part nads you are right, you will not like what the revolution looks like.

6. My wishes?

Aren't being considered. Plenty of folks on this site are more verbose and locquacious than I, concerning our wishes.

This nation was built on principle. That blood still flows through many citizen's veins.

I say again: Should be an interesting year...

Yes it does and none of it agrees with you.

7. That it will be

but if we get to an actual violent revolution all kinds of bets are off.

Personally I am wishing they buy a clue (that is the TPB) and realize that we really should have changes in a peaceful way.

They fart in your general direction.

8. I hope so as well, but

I'm a little fearful of Nov 2012--Some people are going to get
REALLY P'D OFF when they're turned away from the polls.
(Rightly so, imo.) But I also think that may be when the proverbial shit hits
the fan. My nightmare scenario: It becomes apparent that R's are stealing
the elections with voter ID stuff and then they start breaking out the National Guard.

Maybe I've had too much wine.

 :lmao:

10. you really do not want me to share my nightmares

Suffice it to say they involve snipers.

I should really STOP watching events abroad.

Half of DUmmy land is already volunteering to take aim at you nads. :cheersmate:

Can you imagine a DUmmy sniper?

I'm picturing someone wearing a bright Code Pink t-shirt (gotta represent), Doc Martens (gotta have my shit-kicking boots for when the shit gets real) with the muzzle hanging out the window proclaiming exactly where they are and what they're doing. Idiots.

I'll bet there's a former candidate for high office that remembers sniper fire. :lmao:
Has the same credibility as Nads' claim.
ie: none
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

Does she have crankles and wear pantsuits?
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

Yes, applies to both of them. :cheersmate:
