Elementary school to join Occupy Oakland strike
 The staff at Bridges Academy at Melrose sent a bilingual flier home to families, inviting them to join them in Wednesday’s general strike in support of Occupy Oakland — and informing them that teachers would not be in their classrooms that day.

They’re meeting at the East Oakland elementary school in the morning and traveling to Oakland City Hall together, by BART.

“We, the teachers at Bridges, are joining the Occupy Oakland protest on Wednesday, November 2. We will not be in our classrooms that day, all day,” the flier says. “We are the 99%!!”

Those teachers, however, are incredibly brave and will be teaching their students an invaluable lesson. I can't wait to see them all there. Today my daughter told me that she would join me. I am very happy.

What lesson would that be, dana? Teaching the kids of Oakland what corruption, and freeloading really looks like?

Outrageous and disgusting.  I'm at the point where, when Obama starts bleating about "what about the teeeeachers?"  I say "to hell with em." 
They're not doing their damned job; anybody else would be summarily fired for blowing off work like this.

90% of teachers  give the rest a bad name.  The meme of "It's for the children" no longer works as it is really for the teachers and the teahcer don't give a crap about the children.
