Police to protest supporters: Honk if you'd like a ticket

Police experimented with a new tactic Friday night as they responded to a weeklong Occupy Seattle demonstration at Westlake Park -- ticketing drivers who honked in support of protesters.

Starting at 11 p.m. Friday, police started pulling over and ticketing drivers who honked as they drove past protesters.

When the first car -- a taxi -- was pulled over, the protesters followed and shouted at police who then formed a blockade around the driver's  cab.

Funny, I've never heard of this happening at any Tea Party  gatherings.

TEA Party gatherings usually aren't trying to "Tear down the existing structure of America" so that the United States can be "fundamentally changed" into something it's never been before.

Take a lesson from the Libs. when the Conservatives want to protest what we have become, 3 days in jail will turn the Conservative into a Lib.[24]

I don't care what you're protesting or who's protesting, charging people for honking is just wrong.

Not when the sole purpose is to harass and annoy.  Starting this at 11pm on a Friday night?  I can live with that.

I believe in extremely limited use of the honk.  Pretty much "you're about to pull out in front of me you don't want to do that can you not see me?"   I don't like the horn used for "hey pal," "the light just turned green 1 nanosecond ago," and bullshit like that.  It distracts from when you may really need it.

I agree, the horn should only be used as a warning device which it was intended for.   That being said, when I was young and lived in a more rural area, it wasn't uncommon for someone to honk and wave at someone out in their yard.
