Workman's Compensation: "I'm scared sh*tless..."

Tomorrow I have an appointment to see an orthopedic occupational therapist for a diagnosis on a lower back injury that I sustained on the jobsite two weeks ago.

I'm scared shitless here that I am going to end up being denied by my employer's insurance company. I cannot afford health insurance, I most CERTAINLY cannot afford an attorney in the event that my claim is denied.

Can anyone offer some advice on how to handle the process?

I've never gone through this before. I feel completely adrift here with no direct path.

I just want to go back to work pain free!

Anyone who has had experience here that could chime in, would be IMMENSELY appriciated...

Thanks!

If you were truly injured on the job, you should have nothing to fear about being covered.  If you're already talking about being denied and hiring an attorney, I'm guessing you're full of crap and injured yourself trying to pull a five foot bong hit.

In other words, he's about to come up hot on the piss test and won't receive compensation.

Equally as likely that they were there out of hours getting in on some "employee perks" , and strained their back trying to load the cheeto machine into the back of a buick.

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

Priceless, because it ain't gonna pay out a damned thing once it comes to light that he had more drugs in his system than Keith Richards on a bender at the time of the incident.

Well workers comp is just the first step. Then they move on to SS disability. Unfortunately for the dummy SSD is running out of money.

I guess the dummy will be calling Binder and Binder or some other shyster law firm.

Any time I see a post at DUnceland that contains the phrase "I just want to go back to work" I am automatically suspicious, but in this case I will suspend my common sense and give him the benefit of the doubt. I will also send him white light. If he already has a dollar, the white light AND the dollar will pay for a drink. As long as the drink costs less than a dollar.

I had lower back pain for most of my adult life. Probably for improper lifting and lifting too much. When I took my current job I got assigned to a year long project. I went cheap on living quarters, and even cheaper on furnishing. I spent a whopping 50 bucks on a camp cot for my bed (instead of 100 on a twin mattress and flop it on the floor).

Walla! after 12 months on the cot I haven't had a twinge of any sort of back pain for the past 4 years.

Of course, I don't lift anything heavier than a can of beer anymore.

If you truly have a case most workman's comp lawyers will take you on a contingency basis. They get paid when/if you get paid.

I'm banking that Freeper is correct. This primitives is going to fail the urine test, and even transfusing it's blood with Golden   seal isn't going to help.

Perhaps this DUmmy should consult with Taverner or the multitude of fellow idiots who purport to know how to beat a drug test rather than finding an attorney.

20. We experimented with it for a short period of time...

The most noticeable effect was the movement of stationary objects which seemed to vibrate with movement, and objects that were in motion were IN motion, often leaving trails of themselves behind them as they moved along. Imagine seeing said object moving one still frame at a moment while moving at its normal rate of speed, be it a car, trees swaying in the breeze, etc. The worst part of the experience, which ultimately decidedly had me end my experimentation with LSD was the 'chemical' delusion akin to taking a pharmaceutical leaves your head. It was an interesting period of time, with much admiration for the experience from both a psychological and sociological standpoint.

Ugh, people in Maine were constantly trying to ride the WC gravy train.  They knew the system inside and out, and were forever trying to cheat their way to free money and an easy, liesurely life.  Even in the office we had a woman fake some sort of injury to her shoulder, doing God knows what.  I think she fell out of her chair on purpose.  We had a full time private investigator firm, and they would tail all these people and videotape them building log cabins, stacking cordwood, and doing fun projects requiring heavy lifting, etc.

Now that I'm paying WC as an employer, this shit REALLY pisses me off.  It's freaking expensive.  It's what causes a private contractor to charge you $40+ an hour for labor for someone with a paintbrush.

I've seen a video of a guy totally disabled by a lower back injury, who wasn't deterred from keeping up his part-time career as a professional wrestler. He was jumping from atop the turnbuckle, lifting his opponent over his head and slamming him down, flying throught the air like a dervish. All with a totally disabling back injury.
