Equating opposition to going to war with supporting the enemy. Is that allowed in this forum?
I am rather new here (a few months now actually) but there is one thing I haven't been able to figure out: It says in the forum rules that one
should not question someone's motives, or use personal attacks, or accuse someone of being a Republican or something of the sort. However, it does apparently seem to be okay to accuse someone who is against a war of being a supporter of the enemy. Or at least there seems to be a great deal of tolerance for such things. I am rather puzzled by this, since this is in my opinion one of the vilest form of personal attack that can happen. Not only that but it is a well established standard tactic used by people seeking to engage in warfare. It was used during Vietnam, during the Bush administration, and even Joseph Goebbels once stated that it was a crucial component of war propaganda ("call the pacifists traitors and accuse them of supporting the enemy"). It seems to me that there is zero room for such a thing on a progressive board

Oh dear.

3. You may say anything you like either for or against wars, just not anything against Obama.
Because he can do no wrong. Because he is the only hope America has. That were it not for him John McCain or Sarah Palin would rule the earth.

Bit too much truth going on there methinks.

But truth cannot be left uncontested, and we have the world's greatest expert in Middle Eastern affairs (inter alia) to pour a little scorn on lesser mortals.

5. I am against war, but some of the things you have
been posting are not against war, just a little ignorant.

By the way, I am opposed to it on principle, but I also realize that a people has a right to revolt from time to time. Oh and I also realize that there are some people around the world that have doen things to their own people that you can't imagine. I have heard from survivors of these events clear on the other side of the world and my imagination at times fails me. As a red cross worker I debriefed 15 year olds who were tortured and raped by Somoza's people.

Hell my imagination does not fail me at Abu Graib or GITMO.

But the point is... Libya is a popular uprising. It is part of a regional, probably global, revolution. So you will have more of that... Syria is next, and again for a valid reason the people are doing that.

Also it would be good for you to know the differences between a low intensity asymmetrical warfare (libya) and total war (WW II).

I do wholeheartedly support the right of a people to revolt... and now I will tell you something that you might want to take or not. NOW we enter the dangerous phase of the revolution... but it is not because of the gun play.

I hear the death toll in Obama's Libyan war could be as high as 30,000.  Way to go Obama!!!!

I'm reserving 'Shocked' for the day she has the audacity to call someone else 'Semi-literate,' or 'Unlettered.'

Nadainthebrain is a genius on most all topics, just ask her.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
