Executive Order basing 80000 active troops at home?
Does anybody know anything about an Executive Order of Obama's that would base 80,000 active troops in the United States? I keep running into dead ends while trying to find out if this is true. I keep seeing the same thing on multiple websites. Here is an example of one but they are all identical;
"Remember President Obama’s Executive Order basing 80,000 active troops
at home for the first time in the history of the peacetime militaryestablishment to “help with civil unrest and crowd control or to deal
with potentially horrific scenarios such as massive poisoning and
chaos in response to a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or
high-yield explosive, or CBRNE, attack….â€

We know bush started bringing our troops here while he was in office but now I'm beginning to wonder if perhaps some right wingers are trying to make it look like it was Obama's idea. They seem to have a selective memory when it comes to certain things such as bush kept us safe and they have forgotten 9/11 happened under his watch and after a lot of warnings beforehand. When I click on some of the links in the articles that contain that same paragraph it takes me to articles about when bush was bringing them here.
Um...

28. But...
"they" are saying that Obama issued this Executive Order. I think they're twisting things around again and I want to be able to back up my claim with facts. Not that they would know a fact if it hit them in the face. So my question is has anybody heard anything factual about Obama making this Executive Order for the 80,000 troops to be put on our soil to control us or whateverthe**** they are talking about?

17. But that was different, right?
Because you weren't actively patrolling the United States in order to control the population in any way. It was George Bush who struck down Posse Comitatus, thus making it legal for military to patrol the U.S. But now that bush did that is being forgotten and it's all being put on President Obama with no mention of bush at all.
er, no. It was Congress in 2007 that struck down PC.

31. The Posse Comitatus Act was an act of Congress and could only be undone by Congress.
Which is was by the Democratic Congress in 2007. The enemy is closer than you think.
Of course those changes were repealed in late 2008 so the point is moot.
It wasn't Bush who "struck down Posse Comitatus <Act>" is was members of the US Congress including 300+ members of the Democratic party.
ouch. that will leave a mark.

9. Because I see what's coming down the pike
with the right wing nutjobs and I'm looking to cut them off at the pass with the truth. They're doing the same thing that the bush administration did throughout and that's to spread lies and fear.
Nadin needs to get on this, STAT!

15. Yup, except
now they've changed it to Obama. I think bush did bring troops here to police the US. Only the right wingers have conveniently forgotten that it was bush that started this just as they have conveniently forgotten that 9/11 happened under bush's watch.
Brigade homeland tours start Oct. 1
3rd Infantry’s 1st BCT trains for a new dwell-time mission. Helping ‘people at home’ may become a permanent part of the active Army

The 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team has spent 35 of the last 60 months in Iraq patrolling in full battle rattle, helping restore essential services and escorting supply convoys.
Now they’re training for the same mission — with a twist — at home.
Beginning Oct. 1 for 12 months, the 1st BCT will be under the day-to-day control of U.S. Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command, as an on-call federal response force for natural or manmade emergencies and disasters, including terrorist attacks.

20. Keep in mind
that George Bush struck down Posse Comitatus, thus making it legal for military to patrol the U.S. But what I really want to know is the Executive Order number where Obama supposedly is basing 80,000 troops here. If there is an Executive Order from Obama for that. Which I doubt. I haven't been able to find it anyway. I have a feeling this is just another scare tactic by the wingers. Another one added on to their long list of lies and bullshit.
The talking points will continue until the BIG LIE is believed.

38. Thanks for that link.
I remember when all of that talk was going on while bush was president. Now it seems like the right wingers are trying to turn it all around on Obama. And if something is repeated enough, others will believe. And while our troops have been here for a very long time, something must be different about it because otherwise why would abolishing the Posse Comitatus be an issue?
I beleive Barry is at Wannesse working on the Final Solution for the Dummie Question.

39. Thanks!
It seems to me if the president did make an Executive Order about it, it would be so significant changes could take place. He wouldn't be doing it if it was just going to be the same old, same old. But I don't see anything in that list of EOs that points to Obama having done anything remotely close to that. I wish I knew the original source of that paragraph that says,
"Remember President Obama’s Executive Order basing 80,000 active troops"...blah, blah, blah.
I would sure be asking what the EO number is for that. When you Google search "President Obama’s Executive Order basing 80,000 active troops" you find that it's being repeated over and over on a lot of different websites. So once again they are up to their old ploy of repeating a lie and sticking to it. And frankly I'm sick and tired of their lies. And I don't think ignoring them just because we know the truth is the way to go. I think we need to try to nip these things in the bud. But I don't know how!

43. And this is just one example
of what they do time and time again..."Catapult the propaganda". And if these lies keep up we are going to wind up losing seats in the next election and losing the presidency. Look at the protests they're already organizing. Listen to the stupid people who believe the bullshit. Now they're using this lie to try to scare the populous into believing Obama is going to force vaccinations on everybody and use US troops to do it.

64. That reminds me...
I have had the symbol of the Democratic Party on my personal checks for several decades. Once I was writing a check at a local store and the owner (whom I suspect is/was a rockribbed Republican) looked that the imprint and remarked, "A Democrat, huh? There's not many of you left.". I looked him straight in the eye and replied, "There's enough.", took my purchase and walked out the door, laughing all the way to the car. Imagine my delight in the fact that in the '06 and '08 elections, we regained control of both houses of Congress and the WH.
it's too bad SDUnderhead has been 'to the showers' already.
