DAMN - Am I that old?
« on: August 09, 2011, 08:03:53 AM »
Holy Shit - just got back from vacation.  Well the excuse was to go to our class reunion - the big one....50th.
Out of a class of 465, 209 showed up - 72 are gone and 103 couldn't [or didn't want to be] be found, the rest just didn't want to come.  Anyway the wife and I where amazed at how the other 207 changed.  The wrinkles were everywhere, topped off with gray or white hair.  Some no longer had much hair - and not just the men.  [I wonder what hair color bald guys declare on their drivers license---hmmmmmmm.
Good thing we had name tags with our graduation pictures on them, problem was seeing the darn things.  Had to spread the festivities over two days, because the old farts couldn't take more than 7 hours of a party without getting back to rest up.
Guess I'd best go lay down for awhile..................................................... :ohsnap:

You got more people to show up for your 50th than we did for my 20th a few years back.

Count your blessings.  And we were already getting the salt-and-pepper crap back then.

Too funny.

A friend went to his 50th recently and claims his bragging right is that he was the only one walking without a walker or using a power chair.  He's been known to exaggerate for effect.  I didn't remind him of his cane that he uses when walking in rough country.

I don't know about old, but after today I'm considering having the Comedy section of the forum renamed to "Dad's email inbox".

Boyfriend is 3 years younger than me.  He gets a kick out of saying "I am older than dirt, but you are older than me."

M just had a birthday on Saturday (he was 64  :o ), which is my signal to start working up to my birthday.

I'm having a tough time again with it this year (59)...and have since I turned 55. 40 was bad only because I had gotten divorced and never expected to turn 40 and suddenly be single, but being 40 as an age was ok.

I had a hard time the year I was turning 46, as my mother died a month before her 46th birthday. I think most people have a bit of an issue leading up to a birthday that is the same age as when their parent dies at a relatively young age. Once I had my birthday I was fine.

But this getting close to 60 really sucks. I AM NOT THIS OLD!!!!  :bawl:

In my mind, I'm only about 35 and even that is pushing the envelope!  :-)

I remember getting a whole quarter for an allowance. A quarter a week.
That translated to:
1 Comic book 12 cents
1 Twinkies 12 cents
and 1 penny for tax

We had our #50 a few years back. Hey! We all get old.............

I do not do the highschool reunions, I did go to my Ex reunion and after 40 years he could not remember anyone in the gradation class by sight.

We went to the the shindig with the only friend and wife he had kept up with and in the 3-4 hours there not one old friend or acquiesce came up to Hubby or friend.

Darn one meets more old time youth at a funeral then at  this affair.

Problem as I see it is people move on, those that stay in the area interact with old friends every day.

Move on and people only remember you for the shit you caused in their life, nothing in common now and who cares anyway.

I myself happend to run into an old time boyfriend at a State Fair, he was bald, and bless his heart looked worse then his father had at the same age. Holy crap where was the young man that took me dancing, the bright eyed boy that made me laugh??

I walked past his booth and never said a word to him,       What could I say, had I stopped I am sure he himself would have wondered ----WTF happened to her.

Some times it's best to leave the past in the past.

I ran into my first fiance 20 years after we split up. He went from tall, dark & handsome to Jerry Garcia.

I didn't go to my 20th a couple of years ago. I graduated a year early so almost everyone I wanted to see wouldn't be there any way. There was one girl I had the hots for that graduated when I did and really wanted to see tho. I contacted her for the first time in 23 years a few weeks ago and found it she didn't go either. So I didn't miss anything.
