For goodness sakes, why not address the debt limit problem in the traditional way

The debt limit is $14.29 Trillion, our debt is rapidly approaching that amount. However its not often mentioned that of that $14 Trillion about 1/3 of it is money "borrowed" from the various trust funds (Social Security, Highway gas taxes, that sort of thing) for which it can be said the Government owes itself.

Our Government has a strong recent history of simply redefining things to suite the needs of the moment, no group is better at it than the Republicans. So why doesn't Obama borrow a page from their play book and simply declare that the National Debt subject to the Debt Limit is currently $10 Trillion dollars (claiming that the money the Government owes itself does not count) which is well within the current limit. Poof! Problem solved.

Of course the Republicans would squeal like stuck pigs - a pleasing sound.

The DUmp is on fire today. Burn baby burn.

Of course the mountain man primitive who, like all men, nightly pitches his tent one day's march nearer the mausoleum, is concerned for social security.

It's been his obsession for a couple of years now, after he began collecting social security retirement.

Screw the kids, screw the infrastructure, screw national defense, screw paying off the national debt, just so the mountain man primitive gets his social security check.

Nothing matters other than that; that the mountain man primitive gets that check every month.

I know.

I was so overwhelmed this morning.

And I still haven't checked "General Discussion-Presidential" to find out how the 0bama Gestapo on Skins's island is explaining the table to the primitives enraged about proposed cuts.

I'll get over there sometime, though.

Skin's island is popping like popcorn today.

Hell Frank... I thought he had all kinds of money in the market. That's what he said a couple of days ago. IIRC, he said he saved for his retirement and something about his loss, or impending loss, in the market. Too busy to look it up. Got nieces and nephews, whom I dearly love in tonite, and the Perky house is a buzz with activity!!

Hey Thom? You a liar boy. From head to toe, you a liar. Come over here and tell this West by God Virginian why you ain't a liar. Ya know what Thom? I like that saying so much I'm gonna put it in my siggy line.

I am not a financial analyst or even trained in the art - but it occurs to me that a move like this would drop US Bonds to junk status in a nanosecond.

IIRC, up until Lyndon Johnson and his war on poverty social security was actually held in a separate account. The war on poverty wasn't cheap so I believe that is when SS became part of the general fund.

For lurking DUchebags, that means that the democrats took your money and spent it on buying the black vote.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Talk about redefining and mentioning Republicans?

Wow, O'bama has said he hasn't given his staff a raise in 2 years which, as I understand it is true.  What he fails to mention is they were all promoted to higher pay grades.  Nope, no raises but lots of promotions.
