Way out of line for subsidized housing.
Hub and I lived in cheap housing when he was in a technical program. I'm certain the rent was subsidized. People called the area the projects. We had two children and were expecting a third and the school didn't have apartments large enough for three according to the regulations they had to follow so they put us in a large complex. Hub's health was already on a fast downhill track, and I was hustling cleaning jobs and heavy filing for all I was worth. It was all I could get being quite pregnant.
We got along fine with linoleum on the floors, no dishwasher, no air conditioning in central Indiana during the summer. Many of our neighbors kept their places up and were grateful. There were some, though, that griped about every amenity their units didn't have and that they somehow thought they should get free.
Heck, come to think of it I still don't have any carpet, a dishwasher, or air conditioning.
