Bachmann's husband got $137,000 in Medicaid funds
Presidential candidate has often blasted growing welfare programs

While Rep. Michelle Bachmann, R-Minn., has forcefully denounced the Medicaid program for swelling the "welfare rolls," the mental health clinic run by her husband has been collecting annual Medicaid payments totaling over $137,000 for the treatment of patients since 2005, according to new figures obtained by NBC News.

The previously unreported payments are on top of the $24,000 in federal and state funds that Bachmann & Associates, the clinic founded by Marcus Bachmann, a clinical therapist, received in recent years under a state grant to train its employees, state records show. The figures were provided to NBC News in response to a Freedom of Information request.

The clinic, based in Lake Elmo, Minn., describes itself on its website as offering "quality Christian counseling" for a large number of mental health problems ranging from "anger management" to addictions and eating disorders.

The $161,000 in payments from the Minnesota Department of Human Services to her husband's clinic appear to contradict some of Michelle Bachmann's public accounts this week when she was first asked about the extent to which her family has benefited from government aid. Contacted this afternoon, Alice Stewart, a spokeswoman for Bachmann, said the congresswoman was doing campaign events and was not immediately available for comment.

OMG!!!  This has LEGS!!!  The clinic treats Medicaid patients!!!!1111 Oh, no, wait...that's a good thing.  Um, let's see...OH, the clinic takes government money for treating Medicaid patients!!!!!!!!!!11!1!!11!!!!   Just like all the other clinics in the US that treat Medicare patients...  Um...  Well anyway, they've taken the government for like $30,000 per year!!1!11!11111  That's enough to keep almost 2 whole people on welfare each year.    Um, 2 people.  Yeah.   :???:  Well, still, it's terrible. Yes! please continue this insane obsession. The American people are more interested in jobs and the economy, so please continue to act like this when it comes to Bachmann and she'll address the things important to the American people and her message will resonate with them.

In SIX YEARS, a privately-run mental health clinic up in Minnesota will spend more than that clearing snow from their parking lot.

He should announce that to forestall further leftist attacks on his wife, he will hereafter accept only cash, co-pays, and private insurance.

Impact on the business would be negligible, and the DUmmies would be apoplectic.

He'd probably notice a big reduction in litter and oil stains in the parking lot, as well.

Yes, they did.  And immediately the whole country started making fun of you.  

P.S.  I went to the msnbc article, and there were 4500 comments, too numerous to wade through.  I saw some lib bring up the Bush twins going to a bar when they were underage.  He mentioned it twice.   :mental:  That's when I bailed.

Yes.  They're wading through this on eggshells somewhat.  They don't want to demonize welfare queens, and don't like the term of course; and they don't want to demonize Medicaid.  It's a pickle.

Good for her, at least it won't be spent on illegal drugs purchased from illegal alliens and sent to some other country. She's doing her part by taking government money and spending our way out of debt for us.
