I love it that our President Obama golfs a lot.

The fact that President Obama plays and loves the game I love makes me proud to be a golfer.

When I get a chance to play I play on San Diego courses. Some of the Green Fees I pay for a full round of 18 holes are $30 at Coronado, $29 at Balboa, $42 at Torrey Pines, $25 at some other courses. If I play twilight, I can pay less than $20 at a lot of courses and often get in 18 holes. I always walk, so I do not pay any cart fees on top of this.

The idea that golfers are all rich, country clubbers is one the most ignorant stereotypes that exist in all of the USA. People that say that simply do not know what happens on our municipal and inexpensive semi private courses that are literally in just about every community in our country. The courses I play and the people I meet are as varied as San Diego is in terms of color, creed, gender, sexual preference and income. I've made really good friends with people I have met on the course that I do other things with. I've met people who I enjoy golfing with because they share my love of the game, but off the course they are assholes and I'll have nothing to do with them.

Golf is a great physical challenge in that is hard to play well. It is decent exercise if you walk. Here in San Diego, golf is a beautiful experience, some times downright spiritual - Torrey Pines at sunset for example. For me, it is a contemplative, competitive, thought provoking sport/game/hobby/passion.

I think golf helps our President mentally. I am all for him playing as often as he can. My dream would be to join him.

Of course if Obama was a repuke then all the golf would be dereliction of duty, Mikey Moore would be bitching about all his vacation days, and so forth.

1. I like that one of the 'news' channels today drew a comparison ...

.... that at this time in his Presidency, POTUS has been to Camp David for a 'getaway weekend' only 16 times, while at the same time in his presidency, Dimson had been there 62 times (which, in 3 years, works out to 20 weekends a year - or basically, every other weekend. D'oh!).

Yeah but how many get away weekends has he had not a Camp David?

59. You mean where Bush actually STOPPED golfing

and then tried to claim that he was "making a sacrifice for the troops" by giving it up?

More of a sacrifice than any of you goons would ever make.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Oddly, today was the first time in, oh, about three years, that Drudge was entirely 0bama-free, at least most of the day (I haven't checked lately).  The word "0bama" appeared in no headlines, no headlines at all.

Still, there was no good news for Democrats, liberals, and primitives today.

Isn't Camp David like only about half an hour away from the White House?

So what's the big deal about weekends at Camp David?

It's not like George Bush hung around Ireland while Joplin, Missouri was being blown apart.

Obama's thoughts on the subject, "Why go to Camp David when you can go anywhere in the world at the Taxpayers expense?"

...and he's already been to most of them.

Still seared in this memory is a headline about 0bama's trip to India: NOT SINCE THE DAYS OF THE ANCIENT PHARAOHS.....

It was of course referring to the pomp and splendor, and that half the U.S. Navy had to accompany him.

Obama has played more golf than President Bush did during 8 years in office.  Hell, I'm willing to bet Obama has played more golf in the last two years than President Bush has, and he's retired.

Me too, DUmbass.
It reduces the time he can cause more damage to this country.

Didn't think of that, did you, DUmbass?

I cannot imagine a DUmp democrat playing golf. The whole foundation of the game is personal honesty. Normal people have no gallery to watch their play. They hit half their shots away from the short grass, and many of those are out of the sight of their opponent. The game assumes the player will enforce the rules on himself as a matter of honor among gentlemen. The concept of personal honor is as foreign to DUmp democrats as the conjugation of Mandarin verbs. You'd have to be a fool to play golf with a DUmp democrat.

Without a doubt.  It's threads like this where their hypocracy shines in ways that are undeniable.  Good find.

I also love how you say "Oh look, a shiney", and all the DUmbass look.
We just look at you and think, "what a DUmbass".

Just going by the greens fees this komrade claims he's paying and what those fees are here in my area I'd say he's talking about putt putt golf, not real golf. Claims he's walking the course too and I don't doubt that but being that he cites San Diego as the scene of the mime I'll wager he's omitting his ten year old illegal alien caddy from the account.
(both accounts, the story and the expense account, the one his CPA keeps in the other file). I wouldn't bother with a caddy to carry a cheap putter around on the indoor/outdoor carpet between the windmills, clowns and koi ponds but to each his own.

Anyhoo, the libtards are right to be apprehensive about scrutiny of Glorious Comrade Leader's lust for the links as we head into the most important election since our pre Dealy Plaza days.

Many of our Presidents have enjoyed a round of golf, some 15 of them, nothing wrong with that. George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton both took up golf while in office. A wise old man once told me "everything in moderation, nothing in excess". Words to live by. Ike had a putting green installed outside the Oval Office. Many an important icebreaker has been achieved in arguably the most relaxed bipartisan setting available, the golf course. Too much of a good thing though is not a good thing.

George W. Bush recognized that. He eschewed any more golf out of respect for our troops in harm's way, playing his last round in office in Oct. '03 after he took us into Iraq. Ronald Reagan played very little golf while in office. Once in 1983 while playing a round at Augusta a warped mind crashed his pick up truck through the gates of the club, caused a scene and brandished a pistol. He took hostages in the pro shop and fired a shot into the floor. He demanded to speak with the President. Via radio telephone from a Secret Service vehicle by the 16th green President Reagan established a connection, identified himself and attempted to arrange the release of the hostages. He was hung up on three times yet eventually the perpetrator surrendered. Upon that President Reagan remarked that he could not abide innocent people being hurt for the sake of his pleasure and he never played another round of golf again while in office.

George W. Bush was our President for eight years. In that time he played 24 rounds of golf but swore off it as cited above. Since Glorious Comrade Leader has assumed office he has hit the links seemingly at every turn, whenever he can. As of March 2011 he has chalked up 71 rounds, the latest date I could find figures for. Perhaps the MSM has realized this is a touchy subject and decided to conveniently omit further coverage on the subject?

So the score between G.W. and G.C.L. for those who are counting stands at 24 to 71 confirmed.

Being that the last reported round as of late is not as of late and the fact that spring has sprung and we are into another summer I feel it is safe to say that we are being kept in the dark. Of course he has been on the course, I'll bet there have been more sightings of this elusive creature by surprised weekend duffers haplessly coming upon men in black wearing sunglasses hiding behind rhododendrons and having their cellphone cameras wiped clean on the spot as our hero plays through.

We have had Presidents who enjoyed a round now and then and that will continue with future Presidents no doubt. What we are seeing now though is a cavalier attitude in light of the myriad crises now rampant which our leader should be addressing fully. We, the people, don't seem to be too high on the list of his priorities nor are the pressing problems on the world stage. It's all good when you've got a good lie.

Let them eat cake.

Oh, no doubt about it, green fees are far cheaper if you're a SD resident and have the card (which must be purchased) to prove it, but $42 for 18 holes?  Really?

http://www.sandiego.gov/park-and-recreation/golf/torreypines/reservations/fees.shtml

For the record, I used to golf at a lot of public courses when I lived in Orange County.  Baker and Mile Square were the two I used the most since they were quite literally a 5-minute drive away.  Only Baker was less than $40, and that's because it was an "exec" course, meaning a mostly par-3 (par 62 for 18 holes, about 3800 yards, and damn near flat, with the exception of a couple of holes.

And I'll be the first to tell you that I haven't golfed 80-plus rounds in my LIFE, let alone in the last two years.

If you have ever seen Obama's swing (which makes Charles Barkley's look good) then you will know why he never made first string on the varsity basketball team in high school, even though he was the only black guy.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

The fact that President Obama plays and loves the game I love makes me proud to be a golfer.
Of course it does primitive. Anything but running this Nation correctly and working on our problems here in America. As long as he's golfing and playing nighttime basketball. Anything but fixing our Nation's problems, right primitive golf boy? ::) ::)
