These results are from an IBOPE Zogby interactive poll of 1,377 Republican primary voters conducted from May 6-9.

If the Republican primary for President were held today, for whom would you vote?

Chris Christie   17%

Herman Cain   14%

Ron Paul   10%

Mitt Romney   9%

Go, Herman.

Christie/Cain 2012.  Cain/Christie 2012.  Stranger things have happened.

Wonder what the Dems would make of a ticket comprised of two underdogs?  Cain as an AA is obviously (in their skewered mindset) an underdog.  And which group is it STILL permissable to mock, although lots of us fall into it?  Yeppers, overweight and obese folks.

There'd be more common sense in their political billboards, inanimate as those are, than in the entire Obama/Biden ticket.  I WAS going to say package, but then remembered I still have dinner to eat tonight. :-)

  • Where are you going? I was gonna make espresso!
Sorry, but any poll in which RuPaul is above the MOE immediately makes it suspect.

ETA: I like Hermain Cain as well, and I can only hope that his message starts to resonate and take hold.  God knows he doesn't have the baggage (at least none yet identified) as a Romney or Gingrich.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

I think I can go for Herman.
"Liberalism is an essentially feminine, submissive world view. Perhaps a better adjective than feminine is infantile. It is the world view of men who do not have the moral toughness, the spiritual strength to stand up and do single combat with life, who cannot adjust to the reality that the world is not a huge, pink-and-blue, padded nursery in which the lions lie down with the lambs and everyone lives happily ever after."

NJ really needs Christie to stay in place there, great as it would be for him to run nationally.  Cain sounds pretty damn' good to me, compared to the rest of the field especially.

Christie was pretty clear he wasn't going to run this time around. But pols lie, all of them.

I think I need to start "sharing" more of Cain's posts on Facebook, so maybe, just maybe a few more people will read them.

Christie has said repeatedly he's not going anywhere.  Frankly, if he were running, he would have made a lot of the moves (including visits to Iowa and New Hampshire, etc,) by now.

I could probably grit my teeth and vote for Romney if he picked Cain or another strong running mate.  The northeast Republican blue bloods (and Democrats looking to spoil the pot) will most likely ensure he gets the  nomination.

It's the "It's his turn" syndrome that infects the GOP establishment... it got us McCain and Dole who ran a piss-poor campaign in '96.

  • This election is about paychecks v. food stamps

My first reaction too. I'll trust my own instincts first.

Actually I trust almost all of the polls less and less as time rolls along.

Going through my iphone apps and forgot I had a Herman Cain exploratory committee app. Opened it up and on the "about" this is what it said:

Quote
Fellow Patriots,

America is an exceptional nation. America is the greatest idea any man has ever imagined. America is the noblest endeavor humanity has ever known. It is because of this that we have the obligation to preserve the American Dream for generations to come. That is why I have decided to form a presidential exploratory committee as I prayerfully consider a run for the White House.

Please use this app to find out all the latest information about my decision-making process.

Best,
Herman Cain

The app kinda petered out as I've had it for quite some time, possibly due to an app isn't exactly the best vehicle for getting your message out and pales in comparison to FB, but does anyone think this would be a man that would go around apologizing for our great nation?  :cheersmate:

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site
