The preliminary hearing for the woman accused of dragging a Colorado Springs tow truck driver to his death will continue in ten days.

Court adjourned at 5 p.m. Friday, and the hearing will resume on Monday May 23 at 8:30 a.m., with two more testimonies scheduled. The hearing will determine if there is enough evidence to put Detra Farries on trial.

Farries walked into the courtroom in handcuffs and an orange jumpsuit Friday. The widow of tow truck driver Allen Rose and his business partner attended the court hearing. The prosecution and defense tried to sort out conflicting reports on who was responsible for the incident, whether Farries knew she was dragging Rose, and if the tow truck was attached before or after Farries’ SUV was in motion.

The prosecution laid out their case against Farries by calling five law enforcement witnesses, including the lead detective in the case and Farries’ arresting officer. In great detail, they reviewed information and evidence, gathered during their investigation, on how the incident happened.

11 News learned in court that 71 police personnel responded to the scene on February 23, 2011. The lead detective in the case, Wayne Bichel with the CSPD homicide unit, took the stand showing evidence that laid a foundation of how the incident occurred. He informed the court that the incident began at Hill Park Apartments, 360 N. Murray Blvd. Prosecutors showed a map outlining the route Farries took while allegedly dragging Allen Rose. The evidence showed that Rose was dragged, by his feet, over one and a half miles and that Farries continued to drive through neighborhoods and parking lots even after Rose was released from the cables. Rose’s body was discovered around Platte Ave and Babcock. Citizens tried to hold his head up and keep him alive.

I have to agree with TAH: if this was the case of an Iraq vet dragging a black woman to death, we'd have every news agency on the planet covering the horrible travesty, and demanding that Something Be Done.  Instead, nothing.  I hadn't even heard of the case until TAH brought it up, and I LIVE in Colorado.

and Def6?? You're right. Had this been a white on black crime, every news agency throughout the USA would be up in arms. But, since it was a black woman, it must be justified.

Im sure in Eric Holders world a dead cracker is just a real shame. Maybe she'll get a slap on the wrist after she files suit for the arrest and false imprisonment. Maybe. But I wouldnt hold my breath.

Times like these are when justice is best self-served. Same with the black guy that was dragged to death here in South Texas. The two white guys that did it should have been shot on sight. There were things about the old West that we apparently didn't learn from or just simply became too emasculated.
