I just finished reading a thread the Freeper started
here. Part of one of the DU posts that he brought over caught my eye. I started to comment about it in Freeper's thread but decided to start a new topic as what I want to focus on is in a little bit different direction that the original thread. I hope Freep doesn't mind.

it's time for the rich to make some sacrifices for their country. Updated at 5:53 PM
There are millions of Americans who are suffering today -- people in poverty, over a million homeless and most don't know where their next meal is coming from. This includes many, many children, who go to bed hungry, not knowing where their next meal will come from. And those are the ones who have a bed to go to.
There is a solution for this, and that is for the wealthiest people in this country to start paying more taxes. They can afford it; they are multi-millionaires and billionaires who will never have to want for anything. Tax the richest 10% at 50%, and the richest 1% at 75%. They would hardly notice it. Of course, they may not be able to buy that second yacht they've been wanting, or their seventh mansion -- but what's more important, having yet another mansion or having a roof over the head of every man, woman and child, and three meals a day for every family? Paying taxes is patriotic. The rich need to start being more patriotic.
This goes for corporations, too. Companies like Wal-mart, Target, McDonald's, etc. need to start paying their employees a living wage. I work for Wal-mart, and have been for six years now. I get a raise every year but still make below $10 an hour. While Rob Walton, Lee Scott, Mike Duke, et al, make billions. Yet many of their employees struggle to make ends meet.
Jesus Christ told the rich to sell their possessions and give to the poor. Many Christians talk about Jesus coming back and setting up his earthly kingdom, well if that's true then he will rule as a socialist.
In Matthew (chapter 19) and Mark (chapter 10) a man comes up to Jesus and asked what he could do to have eternal life. Jesus told him to keep the commandments. The man claimed that he had kept the commandments since he was boy. This was a lie. Jesus knew this was a lie. Not only because of His knowledge as God, but also because no one can keep every commandment. One of the purposes of the commandments are to show man that he is not perfect and needs help. Then Jesus told the guy if he wanted to be perfect he should sell everything that he owned and give all the money to the poor. The man walked away sadly because he had a lot of possessions.
We can automatically tell that this man was a limousine liberal. First, he is a liar. He lied about keeping all of the commandments. Liberals lie constantly. Just ask the coach, no finer man could you ever hope to meet. Second, he loved money and didn't want to share his with anyone. All liberals love money. The limo liberals who have tons of money want to keep it to themselves and the non-limo liberals want to take everyone else's money.
After the man left Jesus told the disciples that it was hard for a rich many to enter heaven. It's not because money is bad. Nor is it because having money is bad. It's because often times people who have money, like the liberal that asked Jesus about eternal life, begin to focus on their money and their money because their god.
In the book of 1st Timothy (chapter 6) Paul says that the LOVE of money is the root of all evil. Not money. The LOVE of money. There are some conservatives who love money, but they don't hold a candle to the money loving put out by the liberals. Don't believe me? Check the charity stats. Conservatives constantly give more than liberals. AND who is constantly wanting the government to steal money from others and give it to them? I'll give you a hint: it starts with "li". I guess you'll get credit if you picked "liars" or "liberals" as the two are somewhat interchangeable.
Now let's look at this same text and check out the "socialist factor" of Jesus. You will notice at no time did Jesus say that the government should take all of the man's money and pass it out to the poor. At no time did Jesus TAKE the man's money and give it to the poor. Based on the words of Jesus it was the man's decision as to what to do with his money. That is not socialist. Nor is it liberal.
