As far as inappropriate emails go, this surely has to be one of the bluntest.

Iowa University gender professor Ellen Lewin has come under fire for dropping the F-bomb on campus Republicans in response to a chain email advertising their 'Conservative Coming Out Week.'

The club sent an email to members on Monday inviting Republicans to 'come out of the closet' and celebrate and promote right-wing values.

But minutes after the email was sent, Mrs Lewin, who is currently writing a book on gay fathers adopting children, replied with a terse 'F*** you Republicans!'.
