(Handout, Town of Davie / May 13, 2011)By Susannah Bryan, Sun Sentinel5:44 p.m. EDT, May 13, 2011DAVIE—After more than seven years of not being allowed to report to duty, officer Kevin Kilpatrick has been told to come to work Monday, town officials said.Kilpatrick, 41, was paid the entire time, collecting yearly raises and benefits. His current salary: $80,275.Councilman Bryan Caletka said he was glad to hear the veteran officer was coming back to work. "No other company would be paying him to sit at home," he said.The department fired Kilpatrick twice, and twice he won his job back – once from an arbitrator, once from a federal judge.
He has agreed to retire in February 2014, when he is eligible to receive his full pension.
Better yet, he's going to work for two years and then retire with his full pension.... after not working for almost a decade. Cool. Sign me up!
