Neither the President nor the Senate can pay the troops.

All spending bills have to originate in the Republican House of Representatives. When all is said and done and all the spin is spun, it is the House's responsibility to pass a budget. If they have to compromise with the devil to do so, that is their job. The President cannot do it. Harry Reid cannot do it.

As the troops and the Tea Baggers will soon find out, it is only the House that can pay them. If they want to hold the budget hostage to Planned Parenthood and NPR, that is their choice - that is not the choice of Harry Reid or the President.

Just as before, the people will eventually see who the responsible Party is when the House makes the decision they could have made all along. And Harry Reid and President Obama will have nothing to do with it. The people will not be bribed or blackmailed by a bunch of thugs.

[emphasis added]

They actually think, that when push comes to shove, the American people would rather fund abortions and Dora the Undocumented, Cross-border Explorer over the troops in harm's way and will congratulate the dems for sticking to that position?

The premise is absolutely incredible but I'm left to believe this is how Reid and Obama are imaging it will play out. In their own words they have publicly bemoaned the loss of cowboy poetry readings and the closing of federal parks. The American people, in contrast, looked at the looming bankruptcy of their nation and yanked the gavel from Pelosi's crooked tendrils.

I can't believe they are this disconnected and vapid but I don't know what else to call it.

No sooner did I start this thread then a new OP was started over there. It pretty much has the same message:

WE need to craft the Government shutdown Message

Look we all know the Dems are NOT the best at crafting the message. However, WE ARE! I know many DUers actively craft and spread our policy message well beyond DU. But I'm sure many also do not.

This is up to us to make happen. Starting immediately WE need to write letters to the editors, call talk radio shows and cable shows, write on as many news blogs as possible, verbalize in public, etc. to craft the message that this is a 100% Republican Government shutdown. They are responsible for passing a budget and they cannot get it done. It would be done if they didn't put abortion and environmental issues in the budget as riders.

Let's let those Teabagging Douche-hats know they cannot get away with this raping and pillaging of the American people

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x841782

Someone hasn't been paying attention. A (scant) majority is now pro-life and even more than that are anti-tax-funded abortion.

Contrast that with support for the troops.

OK, so now NOT siphoning the brains out of the unborn or burning them to death with concentrated saline solutions is the "functional equivalent of bombing innocent civilians"

DC Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton tells Congress to "go straight to hell"

WASHINGTON - Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton (D -DC) was on fire when she spoke to FOX 5 Morning News Thursday about how Washington, D.C. residents are being treated as work to avoid a government shutdown continues.

“We are absolutely outraged. This is the functional equivalent of bombing innocent civilians,” she said.

“It’s time that the District of Columbia told the Congress to go straight to hell,” Norton continued after she said a rider attached to a bill that could offer resolution prevented D.C. government from spending its own tax dollars on funds for abortions for low income women.

“If these Republicans insist that, if they don’t get the whole pie, they’ll take the whole country down with them,” she continued, “then we have got to make them pay the price.”

So this is the hill the dems have decided to die on.

I would like to add that Title X, the prohibition against using federal funds for abortion, passes every year with wild majorities because no one, save the beachfront liberals, wants to go on record funding abortion.

Funding PPFA was supposed to be the nudge-nudge wink-wink way for liberals to have their baby cakes and eat them too but now these outraged idiots have blown the cover on that ruse because they can't check their emotions at the door for 5 ****ing minutes.

I was thinking about something yesterday, SSB.  A DUmmy was bemoaning the "dismantling of women's reproductive health services."

DUmmy, why the euphemism?  It's abortion!  What's wrong with that?  Absolutely nothing!  Say it loud, say it proud, "Abortion, abortion, abortion!!!!"  It's fantastic!  It's the tops!  Why couch it in wordspeak like that?  Why?  Come on, tell me, be honest.

And the DUmmies seem to be particularly proud of their abortions, so why not just use that term instead of "reproductive choice" or "women's rights"?

It is so telling isn't it?   When the average person hears "Women's Reproductive Health Services" they are likely thinking of pre-natal check-ups, ultrasounds, pre-natal vitamins, etc., and of course they would be outraged to hear about cuts to those services for the poor.  Abortion just doesn't pull the same heartstrings.

Hell democrats can't even say, war, instead they use some made up term, kinetic military action, or some stupid thing like that.
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Reid and Obama were all jazzed up when they thought that the Wisconsin Supreme Court looked like a donk win.  Now that it is not and they put 150% into it, they are rethinking their positions. The communist democrat party and the MSM have become an echo chamber and it tainted their thinking. Now reality has reared it's beautiful head and spit on them.

Note to Harry Reid, THE TEA PARTY IS ALIVE AND WELL.

When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Planned Parenthood isn't even a part of the US government - they just take a lot of taxpayer $$$.  They don't have to close because the federal government closes down.  The democrats lie.

Terms like "women's reproductive health" and other such specious bovine excrement like that is much easier to defend to the unwashed and uninformed masses than, as I put it, "the slaughter of the Innocent Unborn, a literal blood sacrifice and official sacrament of the Sacrilegious Left in this once-great nation's abortuaries, the official altars of the Sacrilegious Left."

I can't tell you how many times people who are "pro-choice" got mad at me because I had the audacity to tell them let's call a spade a spade, if you're proud of you position then let's call it what it is "pro-abortion", they get so mad.
