DUmmies Discuss Well-Woven McDonald's Bouncy Tale
« on: April 02, 2011, 11:07:46 AM »
DUmmy rhiannonnumbers spins a near classic bouncy tale, complete with exact quotes, sputtering, defeated rethugs stomping out, and applause from an appreciative audience:

I offended two of my mother's friends last week
I was sitting in a McDonald's inside a Walmart last week, hanging out with my mother and her friends Betty, Bob, and Helen. In small town America, places like this have become gathering places for elderly retired people, so whenever I visit, we spend a couple of hours a day there. As always, Faux News was on the TV, and the pundits were talking about the Wisconsin situation. Betty said she didn't know what was happening to our country, but she didn't like it. I said, "Yeah, there really is a class war going on and it looks like the rich are winning." Well. I might as well have said something disparaging about St Ronnie Raygun, because IT WAS ON.

Betty responded with "Well, this is a capitalist country. People have the right to make and keep as much money as they want, because IT'S THEIR MONEY." I said, "But they often make so much money by exploiting their workers. They don't have a right to HOARD billions of dollars while people starve. People have the right to make a living wage."

At this, Bob piped up, "Everyone 'hoards' money. It's called 'saving'. It's none of our business how much people save. And workers should be happy to have a job at all."

I said, "Walmart is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. The Waltons make billions more than they could ever spend, while their workers qualify for food stamps. Why is that okay?" Bob said (I couldn't believe my ears) "Walmart workers don't have any skills, so they're already being paid too much."

Betty said something about Obama being a socialist and I responded with "President Obama is NOT a socialist. I WISH he was a socialist. We would all be better off." By now, Betty and Bob were getting up to leave, both noticeably pissed off. Meanwhile, my mom (who can't hear much of anything these days and is bordering on dementia) was busily eating her french fries, and Helen was applauding! As soon as they were gone, Helen said, "Thank you for that! Someone has to stand up to that bunch. I'm sick of how stupid and self-centered they are. They both have Medicare and live on Social Security, but they hate the government--especially President Obama."

I brought this up to my mom later that evening and apologized for pissing off her friends. She just shrugged it off with, "They'll get over it."

This is what we're up against, folks. Extreme ignorance. When poor people defend the behavior of rich people, the propaganda machine is working.

1. People think the Government is a magic money machine.

DUmmy dkf could get banned for suggesting there's no magic money machine.

DUmmy Armstead is into just good old-fashioned class envy:

3. Yeah I've had similar experiences, though I usually stop before it gets to the boiling point
It's not just older people, that's what is so baffling and discouraging.

It is hard to fathom anyone who defends a family who inherited about 30 Billion each, and refuse to even live on a measly 5 or 10 Billion to allow thousands of their workers to have a slightly better life....It's nuts.

DUmmy knowbodyzero is a liar of very limited skill:

re the other side, forget about it. they are eternally clueless. I cannot even have a brief conversation with ANY of my neighbors without hearing about that n.... in the white house. some even cried when he won the election. I've accepted we are a very divided country and to find a sense of peace I choose to consider them unevolved and handicapped. that way I can find pity for them.
btw, I really believe we are in the midst of a cleansing period and that extreme contrasts are essential. carry on, comrade!

5. it isn't ignorance. its bigotry (they have no skills, they get paid too
much) and its hatred. Your mom's friends are assholes. You did good. And hug your mom. I'm sorry she has friends like that. with a kid like you, she must be a good soul. and I'm sorry she has that illness. It sucks. HUGS!

6. I do my best not to offend my mom's friends.
They are really important to her, and I don't want her having to defend me to her friends when I leave.

They already know she thinks I walk on water and hold the wisdom of the ages. So I tend to smile noncommittally when talking to her friends, to withhold my thoughts much of the time with her, and to drop them rarely, at just the right place to make her think. Then SHE will take the battle to her friends, as it should be.

In the DUmmy mind, people should engage in political battles with their friends.

You need them.
In the DUmmy world, offending people by starting political arguments is a good thing.

I love how they conveniently forget that we pay into SS and Medicare, against our wishes, so when it is time to draw out part of it I'm damn sure going to try to get some of MY money back!

If the gov't would leave me alone I would retire in less time with a better income.

Are they forced to work there?

Hoard billions?   Do they have the tiniest inkling of understanding of what these billions are doing for the economy?    This money isn't stuffed under a mattress junior.

Sorry in advance, this got long

I am so sick of hearing "billionaire" when they talk about the "rich". That isn't who will pay for their shit, it's people earning over $200k a year (or $250 if they are married) and the people who actually pay the majority of taxes  The true multi millionaires and billionaires don't really care if taxes are raised, they have tax shelters and overseas accounts to hide their money.

Bruce Springsteen uses a tax loophole so he doesn't have to pay much in the way of property tax (he has an organic lawn guy). Jon Bon Jovi raises honeybees to avoid taxes. GE, obama's favorite company paid ZERO taxes.  The true rich have enough money to do this kind of crap. There are so many high profile RiCH democrats that have avoided paying taxes that it would be laughable if it weren't so maddening.  As you make more money you get some of your deductions  and tax breaks taken away.  Those deductions are chicken feed to the ultra rich, to those making $200k it makes a difference.   Take away the loopholes and have EVERYONE who earns money pay a flat tax.  50% (i may be off by a % or two) of Americans don't pay any fed income tax, they have no "skin" in the game. I am surprised that our side gets as many votes as it does considering that fact.

My husband got a bonus this year. The total taxes taken out was over 40% (including over 10% for the sh*t hole state CA). They didn't take any out for 401k, insurance etc. It was all tax. I will state right here that my husband is one of the "rich" who makes over $250k a year. He is 45 years old, has worked since he was 14 (a bus boy). Paid for his own college (all 6 years of it), managed to pay my doctor bills when I had a stroke and no insurance back in 1995, has never taken one cent of unemployment (but has been laid off before....he got three jobs (two part time and one full time) until he got a job in his field. We had to move from Phoenix to Lake Havasu City for him to get that job (boat designer). When he got the job in Dallas we moved again, then when the company was closing down the office in Dallas we had to move to CA or he wouldn't have a job, in a better economy he could have taken his severance and taken his time finding another job but he didn't have that luxury in this economy.

He has been with the same company since March 1994, moving up from industrial designer to design director to VP of Design. HE did it, it wasn't luck, he wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he has never been handed anything...he has worked for everything he has gotten in life. He works his ass off, takes care of his family, is kind and considerate, takes care of his guys at work when they have an issue to the point that they come to him if they have a personal problem not even related to work. He is the best person I have ever met in my life.

There are other things he would rather do in life as far as work goes but he has a family to take care of.  Responsibilities that he takes seriously, our son is in college and our older daughter will be graduating next year and off to college as well.  This is the majority of people that they call "rich". Either small business owners who have risked everything they had to start a business or someone like my husband who has worked for every single thing he has. We were poor for more years than we have been "rich". We put away money to prevent being poor again as he could lose his job just as millions of others have, be it a good economy or bad.

I feel like liberals are children who don't think twice about what it cost or that there is not an infinite amount of money.  Like when I was a kid, I wanted a big wheel. My mom was divorced and working a low paying job. She told me that she didn't have the money.  I said, "but you still have checks in your checkbook".

At some point you run out of other peoples money DUmmies.

rhiannon55 I want some of your money. There's a chance you have more than me and that's just not right. You can join up here and PM me and we'll work out a way that you can transfer money to me so things will be more equal. If you choose not to join up and give me some of your money it shows that you're just a chicken-shit hypocrite.

Well, golly, I had a similar experience just a few days ago.

So, I was in the Eugene Walmart. It's a superstore and I like their produce. On the way out I decided to to stop into McDonald's and get some fries. I love McDonald's fries! I saw the weirdest thing. There was a table with this disgusting hippie looking thing I'm guessing was female. It was hard to tell what with the greasy hair, rolls of fat, and sour expression. It was so odd, though because she was sitting with the loveliest group of old people. There isn't a TV in this one, probably because it's in this backwards L shape and there's no central location to put it in.

Anyway, all the elderly people were laughing about something, I think I heard something about senior citizen night at the casino. All of a sudden, dirty hippie harpy started screaming at these elderly folks at the top of her lungs. Something about the evil rich and hoarding. One of them was trying to get her to calm down while the others just sat there in stunned silence. Suddenly, one of the adults stood up and slapped the fat, screaming harpy smack in the face, told her she was an ungrateful little turd and she was embarrassed to claim her as her daughter. Evidently scary-ugly does this often because the mom said she could pay for her own 3 supersize meals next time.

Well, next thing I know this cop pops out from behind this tall plastic potted palm tree. He was sitting at the table behind it eating lunch. He went over to the table to see what was wrong. The harpy screamed abuse, but the mom explained why the fat bitch was so pissed. Instead of trying to calm the situation down that cop reached over and slapped the ungrateful daughter himself and told her she better just shut up or he'd take her in for disturbing the peace. The whole lunch crowd broke out in applause.

On my way out the door I stopped by the table where the 5 of them were sitting, leaned down and told the DUmmie (in between gagging over waves of patchouli oil and b.o.) I just couldn't wait to get home and find out what kind of a bouncie she turned this into!

Delilah gets a huge Hi5 from me, too.  Now, may I tell a true story?  So, today I throw on some yardwork worthy clothes after church and start some weed pulling.  While doing so, my daughter's dog manages to dig a hole under the fence large enough to escape his confines.  So off to Lowes I go to buy some wire to cover the gap.  Courteous Dennis is checking me out, laughs, and says "Palin power?".  Oops, I forgot I threw on my lipstick on a pig Palin t-shirt from 2008. Dennis:  "she didn't even know Africa was a continent".  Me:  "that is not true, and she is better than what we have in the White House now".  Laughing Dennis:  "but did you hear Obama is getting the banks to pay back $5billion now, and a total of $25billion from the stimulus?"  Me: " the monies being paid back are from TARP1 foolishly spent by Bush".  Laughing Dennis:  "no, it is repayment from the stimulus".  Me: "the stimulus was a government hand-out, TARP was a loan.  Do you understand the difference?"  Confused Dennis:  "that's not the way Ed Schultz explained the repayment".  Me as I leave:  "that is patently false, please take off your blinders and expand your sources of information".  Unfortunately, there were no Bobs, Helens, or anyone else to applaud, storm off, or anything else.  I was courteous, laughing, confused Dennis' lone and last customer of the day.
