Happy, productive American thread?
« on: March 27, 2011, 07:32:29 AM »
I'm just a little weary of the constant stream of disheartening diatribes from all media sources lamenting the "end of America" or "the stagnation nation."

I know our problems by now - I hear and read them ad nauseam, every day.

Our nation has a lot to do, but I would like a little balance. America is the most philanthropic nation in the world; our citizens travel the globe to help (with their OWN finances) those in need of food, shelter, medical care, clean water, etc. We help our neighbors, clean up the messes, and have a good laugh even when the water comes over the levee.

I know, it's not in the American nature to go spouting off about the good we've done - we expect it of ourselves.

Maybe we could post about Americans we know (not ourselves) going above and beyond?

It would be a welcome tonic.  :cheersmate:

Well, that's our "lamestream media" for you. They always seem to focus on the bad. I HAVE noticed that some of the local TV affiliates run some human interest stories that focus on the good things, but they seem fairly rare.
