Marco Rubio
« on: May 17, 2011, 01:35:22 PM »
Okay, since some folks are speculating about people they would like to see run but who are not actually running (yet) I will throw Marco Rubio into the mix.

What does Rubio have going for him:

  • Young/Fresh face
  • Not seen as an insider
  • Good Conservative Credentials (to the best of my knowledge)

....and

  • Hispanic

The Hispanic vote is a major factor in this election. There are more Hispanics than Blacks in America. Could you imagine a Republican candiate who could go on Univision or Telemundo or other Spanish language networks and give lengthy interviews? He'd have a dang monopoly there because Obama can't do that.

Yep, if I could draft someone who has not decided to run, I think I might pick Rubio.

Is there any black mark on his Conservative record that anyone knows about?

About the only "mark" I can see against Rubio would be his relative inexperience . . .

. . . but, then again, the US, in the last Presidential election, elected someone with zero experience, so it can happen again.

CC, don't think for a second that the LSM wouldn't try to use that tack.

Oh, I know. They will stop at nothing. They might even try to make him some sort of racist.

I like Rubio a lot.  I do think the lack of experience is the only major black mark.  The senate race was so heated, vitriolic, and filled with drama that if there were any serious skeleton in his closet, it would have been found.  As far as I know, his conservative bona fides are solid.

Yeah, we know that a candidate can't be elected for president with only a little senate experience.  :-)

Yeah, I know.   I went over to Gradegov.com to see what the comments were about him.  His constituents who gave him an F had a big beef about Libya.  That was about the only thing.

I stopped by Alan West's page and gave him a big fat A+++ and a nice note.   :-)  I have a crush.

I shouldn't have watched that Family Guy episode. Every time I hear Marco Rubio's name I think of Stewie playing Marco Polo with Helen Keller.

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

I like him, but I'd hate to see him give up that hard-won seat and let Creepy Charlie have a chance to jump into it.

Good point. Creepy Charlie is now a shuckster on local TV for one of the local ambulance chasers. The man has no class.

Agreed. He's a rarity, a politician with ethics.
