Republicans Score Big Victory in their War on the Poor
 http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/02/27/950686/-42,000...

42,000 Pennsylvanians lose their health care tomorrow.

Yet another state, with yet another Republican Governor and legislature, is turning on its budget-cutting buzzsaw with nary a thought to the poor and sick who will be chewed up by it.

According to NPR, Pennsylvania is terminating its AdultBasic Insurance program as of February 28th, 2011. It currently provides extremely low-cost health insurance coverage ($36/month) for 42,000 Pennsylvanians who are poor but not poor enough to be covered by Medicaid. Tomorrow it will cease to exist.

Why is it being axed? Because the state has a $4 billion dollar budget shortfall and, as one Republican State Senator in Pennsylvania says,

our governor has said he will not raise any taxes...

Are they 100% certain this has to do with the evil Republican governor or does it have something to do with Obamacare?

"$4 Billion budget shortfall".

IMHO there really is no such thing as a "budget shortfall". What that actually means is spending shot past where it was intended to be limited to so now they are in the hole and have to take from Peter to pay Paul.

If they are having to cut programs to free up money to be paid to somebody methinks that somebody is likely those with union contracts that the state is obligated to meet, and cannot cut.

The loud crowd that likes to scream about the plight of the poor, etc. should shut their pie holes because it is their pie holes that are being stuffed with the proceeds of cutting these programs.

Times are tough all over and everyone is having to tighten up their belts a few notches, we are all in this together.
That's a phrase union organizers like to spout to their minions, "We are all in this together". The average Joe understands that phrase as meaning "We Americans, all of us". I think the union types have a different definition for it, that of a pillaging and plundering mob with a parasite/ host mentality.

So, let me see if I understand this correctly.  If I was an idiot earlier in life and dropped out of school and used all kinds of drugs, thus ruining my chances of every making above minimum wage, I should get free or greatly reduced healthcare even if my state is going broke taking care of people who actually aren't deadbeats and contribute to society?

I actually got to see some health care up close the other day. I went to an "immediate care" facility because it was after-hours, and I didn't want an ER bill. I had went to this place once before.

Before Zero's healthcare went into effect the cost was $95.

Now the cost is $150.

I do realize that using "DUmmie math" that $150 is less than $95; however, this place (and most others) uses real math and expects real money.

I hit an urgent care on a Sunday morning a couple weeks ago. That one cost me 100 crisp dollar bills. I  got raped $36 by a Walgreens pharmacy around the corner. The next morning I went to a Dentist and was thrown down and they had their way with me for $260 to remove 2 teeth. BUT on the plus side what cost me $36 the day before was only $3 and change for the same damn meds by going to WalMart for the painkillers and Publix for the free antibiotics.

Upon prudent, non-pain driven thought I should have told Walgreens to go stuff themselves where the sun don't shine and been patient and waited another couple hours. BUT I was ready to kill anything at the time....

I just went through a bout of pinkeye with the wee-girl child.  Last time around, we had my husband's former employer's healthcare.  Of course, he was laid off after 22 years just after the last presidential election results rolled in.  The old healthcare left me with a $15 co-pay on the drops.  This time around, with the crappy coverage his crappy substitute job has, the very same size bottle of the very same brand of drops cost me:  $82.00.  I almost fell over.  And it is the size of a postage stamp and a half.

Thanks, Obamacare!

That's weird. My trip ended up being somewhat dental related. The doc claimed that what I thought was simply the headache from hell was actually an inflamed nerve that came about from a tooth I had filled a few weeks back. I'd never heard of an inflamed nerve before. I hope I never experience one again. I was in so much pain I don't know how much the meds cost.

Woa...woa!!

You may be using the wrong scale here....

Did you get a free 1+1= Potato(e) and/or brochure?

I have found that while the cost of "immediate care" has doubled, if the facility gives me an Idaho Spud AND, there is a FREE butter, sour cream, and chives bar at the exit door, the extra cost is more than worth it.

Ya  wanna make the DUmmys ecstatic? Add a free (cough, medical cough marijuana cough, cough) bar to the mix...
