Labor Union Officers salaries
« on: February 21, 2011, 09:56:03 PM »
I've been trying to to ferret his information out but find it isn't easy to source these figures.
I got the idea from Evil_Conservative's thread on Wisconsin teachers salaries and was just curious as to what the union bosses are making. You know, the rabble rouser guys that harp how downtrodden, exploited and undervalued their constituency is. I wanted to know how much of those dues are pocketed by the upper crust.
I have wondered that for years actually, having myself been is a few unions (Steelworkers, UAW, OCAW) and here in New York if your job is union you can't opt out and still work for those companies.

I'll flesh this out as I find more, for now though I have discovered that the head cheese over at AFSME of which many of the Madison protesters are members, makes more than the Governor!

http://maciverinstitute.com/2011/02/labor-leaders-living-large/

more to come, stay tuned. (have also found no shortage of eye opening figures in the salaries of non profits such as Sarah Brady's gun grabbers and other limousine liberals).

Not at all! I've resorted to drilling a side shaft into the rabbit hole like BP had to do in the Gulf.

I did a quick one minute search and found the SIEU officer salaries:  http://www.seiu-wrong.com/files/2_officer_salaries.pdf

I am sure the information you are after can be found with a little digging here: http://www.dol.gov/olms/regs/compliance/rrlo/lmrda.htm
Last but not least, a quick and dirty rundown: http://www.michigancapitolconfidential.com/14056

Randi Weingarten, the former head of the New York City teachers' union, received $194,188 last year from the United Federation of Teachers for unused sick days and vacation time accrued before she left to become president of the American Federation of Teachers, boosting her total compensation to more than $600,000 for 2010.

The payment was disclosed in the UFT's annual filing with the U.S. Department of Labor.

Joshua Freeman, a professor of labor history at Queens College and the Graduate School of the City University of New York, said the payment is "not out of whack with general practice" among labor unions and municipal employees.

The union, which represents nearly 80,000 teachers, recorded dues and agency fees of $125.6 million, up from $119 million two years before. The union said the dues increased because wages rose and because there was a jump in hiring due to retirements.

The document also shows how much the UFT spent on some of its events. For instance, the union spent more than $1 million at the New York Hilton last year on three events, including its 50th anniversary gala. The UFT's Mr. Hickey said that because the UFT charged some participants for tickets to the event, the union "broke even" on it. The union spent $11,000 on balloons during the year for various events, including for a party for homeless children.

A $5,000 bill from the Miami Beach Resort and Spa followed an AFT women and civil rights meeting. The UFT spent $24,000 at the Hilton in New Orleans to send 30 people to the convention of the National Education Association—another teachers union.

Wow, all I can say is wow! The graft of these people seems to be boundless. What two faced lying hypocritical shameless bastards they are. Nero would be proud of them.
I have an Uncle who is still to this day a Professor at Kent State in Ohio, he was there before, during and ever since the riot and has born witness to the sea shift in American academia since that time. He is a Republican, always has been. Once at a wedding ten years ago I asked him about what it is like to be a conservative today as a prominent figure in his field. His answer was a one liner and even there in a banquet hall surrounded by family, one on one in the corner of the room, "I walk a fine line, a minnow among the sharks, if they smell blood I am gone". I will never forget that.
I saw this on Fox tonight-

I am also reminded of some talk radio I heard about a year ago, Rush, who had on that day as I drove home from work another prominent Professor who had been lauded with a prestigious award by his peers as Professor of the year at his Ivy League University, at least I think, it's been a year and may have been a national award for his field.
He was feted and held in high regard by is contemporaries. After that day it was discovered that he was a Republican. His award was rescinded and he lost his tenure, fired.

The useful idiots who support unions use every justification known to man to explain away those salaries and bennies.  Either that or they just ignore those facts like the morons living in an ashram ignore that the yogi lives in a mansion on a bluff with a spectacular view while they're thankful for their daily bowl of white rice.

I have a documentary on coal mining life in Appalachia and, while unions were being supported for the most part, the sub-story it tells about the life of the union bosses reveals a lot.

Ever see the movie, "The Matewan Massacre"? "Toots" comes from the same county. Can't say the union has done much for those people. Downtown in the "holler" still looks the same as it did in that movie. Kids drop out of school in the eighth grade because they think their only future is in the coal mines!

I've seen this with my own eyes. Some of the houses on the creek, still empty their sewer refuge into it. Many still have outhouses, coal fired cook stoves, and heat with old coal burners in the front room!

First time I was there with "Toots", blacks still weren't allowed to drink in the bars. They would sit out front on the curb with their jars of "lightin". It was like takin' a time machine back a hundred years!

Yep, the unions really helped those people!

Remember the movies "Harlan County Wars" and "Harlan County USA"? My Granddaddy was a coal miner in Harlan Cty., KY. After he got ill, he got out of the mines and became the Cty. sheriff. He died of black lung in the early 60's. MY Mother was born in Harlan Cty in 1931. In the late 50's, they migrated to the big city, Middlesboro, KY.
