My parent's mindset
« on: March 28, 2012, 10:27:48 AM »
As most of you know, I was born in UK, which has national health. We came here, became citizens and forged on...My parents are really for Obamacare, which is the way I look at it, seems like National Health Care. The American Tax payers would be expected to cover this, so on top of paying my premiums and deductibles, I now have to pay for someone else as well.

Then my mother went on to explain that big corporations like Walmart can afford to offer their associates and families healthcare insurance discounts, and small businesses can't afford to do so, though I thought there were insurances out there that specialized in small business healthcare.

My parents see nothing wrong with the first family taking 16 vacations. They say the president is on call 24-7. Yeah well he knew that when he took the job..(no sympathy there).
Yeah well the active military don't get 16 vacations, and they are on 24-7, plus getting shot at, etc....

My mom, step-dad and my dad are republicans but my mom and I disagree on a number of things, mainly abortion.

As far as the president taking so many vacations, if they wouldnt have taken such flashy vacations I don't think anyone would have said much. It's not the number, it's the $ amount. My family hasn't taken a vacation the whole time Obama has been in office.  It hasn't been because of money but because my husband hasn't been able to take enough time off from work for us to go anywhere. Which is kind of ironic when you compare his job with the presidents.  :whatever:

It started when I mentioned Sandra Fluke. I tried to explain to them , why should the American taxpayer pay for someone to have birth control, so she can screw every Tom. Dick or Harry? There are other alternatives...condoms, abstinence, pull out, rhythym. My feeling is if you can't afford a baby or your own birth control, maybe you shouldn't have sex.

I couldn't afford more than a short road trip for a vacation, and yes, I'm  pretty much on call 24/7/365.  I've even been called in to work when I've taken vacation days.

I think alot of it, is because we were raised so differently.  Different countries, different ideals. My final feelings is this, yes maybe Obabamacare will help many, but as a country, it will hurt us more in the long run...

The people who don't buy or can't afford insurance still won't be able to pay for it (or pay the fine).
