a matter of taste
« on: January 08, 2011, 11:02:39 AM »
After this thread has run its course, I'm going to merge it with the "DUmpster Rules and Links", as it does have a great deal to do with the unspoken rules that decent and civilized people have been observing since the foundation of conservativecave more than three years ago.

The most constant criticism, or discomfort, expressed about the DUmpster is that it's not quite sporting, as if we're making fun of retarded people, taunting and teasing the mentally-deficient.

Those are sentiments expressed not by the primitives on Skins's island, but by decent and civilized people who are members of conservativecave.

Well, it seems to be a matter of taste and judgement.

Of course it is not decent to mock people who were born with some sort of tragic defect, or attained it later in life from some sort of tragic illness or accident.

It needs pointed out that in all the history of the DUmpster no one has ever, wittingly or unwittingly, ridiculed a primitive who matches that criteria.  Never; not once.....and remember, franksolich has read every single word of every single comment ever posted in the DUmpster--it's part of his job, as moderator--and as the DUmpster is by far the largest forum on conservativecave, that's been a Hell of a lot of reading.

The DUmpster is however famous far-and-wide for mocking and ridiculing those who knowingly and willingly choose to be retarded or ugly.  They weren't born this way, or became this way because of something that happened to them in life; they freely and voluntarily choose to be this way.

Skins's island abounds, teems, is congested with, the mentally-ill and the obese, for example.

There's tons of primitives who are nuts, or fat, or both.

Take the subway cat, for example, a primitive of prominence here in the DUmpster, who's both of the above.

The subway cat first attracted notice years and years ago, in both P-J Comix's most-excellent DUmmie FUnnies on freerepublic, and in the Best/Worst of DU forum at our old home; long before conservativecave and the DUmpster ever existed.

She attracted notice, and an audience, not because she is nuts and fat, but because the subway cat "politicizes" her ailments and deformities, constantly blaming her problems on evil Republicans, not least George Bush and Richard Cheney.

Ditto for the gigantic primitive; what attracted attention to the Las Vegas blimp was not that he weighed 519 pounds when he was first observed, but that he blamed his obesity (and all his other problems) on evil Republicans, not least George Bush and Richard Cheney.

Primitives voluntarily stupid and ugly are fair game.

Some years ago, when franksolich was categorizing the primitives, our distinguished colleague miskie pointed out he had omitted one classification, the abbandonado primitives.  (The oversight was of course corrected.)

The abbandonado primitives are those primitives in decrepit shape, mentally or physically, who are trying to work through their problems by putting the blame for those problems where the blame lies, which is not on evil Republicans, not least George Bush and Richard Cheney.

Since the abbandonado primitives are actually seeking solutions to their problems, trying to take control of their lives, they tend to be scorned and even shunned by all the other primitives.  They after all are violating one of the principal taboos of the primitives, that of taking responsibility and control of their individual destinies.

That's a big no-no on Skins's island, and hence their rejection and isolation.

There's lots and lots of abbandonado primitives on Skins's island, and they're never mocked by decent and civilized people.

Only the willfully stupid, nuts, and fat primitives have been ridiculed here.

This is not currently an issue here in the DUmpster, but it has been an issue before, most remarkably in the Best/Worse of DU forum at our old home, some years ago; that of mocking and deriding underaged primitives, minor children (who shouldn't be hanging around Skins's island anyway).

There was the case of the chinless wonder, the precocious Lil Ava, who was 14 or 15 years old, and into making "videos" bashing both George Bush and the War for the Liberation of Iraq.  There were many sharp remarks about the teenaged heiferette at our old home, one of which excited the attention of Lil Ava's maternal ancestress, who went there and alleged one comment in particular amounted to a death-threat against her daughter.

franksolich was not around during this controversy, but saw the comment some years later; only a deranged liberal mother hen from Alabama could have possibly construed that comment (made by whom, I no longer remember) as anything other than mild criticism.

But because the chinless wonder was a girl-child who should've been playing with dolls rather than hanging around predatory primitives on Skins's island, decent and civilized people muted their comments about her.

(For the record, the precocious one is now 20 years of age, and fair game.)

In the lifetime of the DUmpster, there was a a similar case, that of the overly-cerebral Asher Heimermann, who was all of 14 years old in 2008, when he took to the stump for the Big Zero.

The kid-genius, who created a stir on Skins's island, was generally ignored here, although franksolich for a while got his digs in by imitating the style and manners of the kid, which seems about as far as one should go, when dealing with diminuitive primitives.

The supposed threats on Ava were made by her flash kiddie friends at www.newgrounds.com when some of them got tired of her political slide shows being posted there. A couple of us dug that little nugget of truth up after all the excretion hit the fan at her website.
Momma storming the walls at the old place was nothing but a cover-up after Ava used the quote and credited us for it and not the kiddies to garner sympathy and score points with Cimply Shehag. Once Momma was shown the truth she spit and sputtered and went away.

Personally speaking, I feel that there's nothing wrong with pointing out someone's POV that differs from ours, and since we can't post there they basically go unchallenged, so we challenge that POV here, and point out the hypocrisy at times. Where I personally draw the line is when it comes to kids, those who are physically ill, and those who are mentally ill, the argument should be the POV not the person. There is the occasional case though where someone is collecting disability yet they buy pot with it, is that fair game? not really sure.

Is this subject in reference to Dondi's post at OET called "Ever since it garnered a mention here a few weeks ago"? if so Dondi's post is the height of hypocrisy, they do the same thing we do yet they find a justification for them doing it.

There is the occasional case though where someone is collecting disability yet they buy pot with it, is that fair game?

They are in my book.  This joke will serve as a metaphor for why I feel that way:

A Republican, in a wheelchair, entered a restaurant one afternoon and
asked the waitress for a cup of coffee. The Republican looked across the
restaurant and asked, "Is that Jesus sitting over there?"

The waitress nodded "yes."  The Republican requested that she give
Jesus a cup of coffee, on him.

The next patron to come in was a Libertarian, with a hunched back. He
shuffled over to a booth, painfully sat down, and asked the waitress for a
cup of hot tea. He also glanced across the restaurant and asked, "Is that
Jesus, over there?"

The waitress nodded, so the Libertarian asked her to give Jesus a cup of
hot tea; "My treat."

The third patron to come into the restaurant was a Democrat on crutches.
He hobbled over to a booth, sat down and hollered, "Hey there honey! How's
about gettin' me a cold mug of Miller Light?" He too looked across the
restaurant and asked, "Isn't that God's boy over there?

The waitress nodded, so the Democrat directed her to give Jesus a cold
beer. "On my bill," he said loudly.

As Jesus got up to leave, he passed by the Republican, touched him
and said, "For your kindness, you are healed." The Republican felt the
strength come back into his legs, got up, and danced a jig out the door.

Jesus passed by the Libertarian, touched him and said, "For your
kindness, you are healed." The Libertarian felt his back straightening up
and he raised his hands, praised the Lord, and did a series of back flips
out the door.

Then, Jesus walked towards the Democrat, just smiling.

The Democrat jumped up and yelled, "Don't you touch me- I'm collecting disability!"

Oh, no!! I was looking for this post (never found it) and noticed that DUmmy ThomWV, one of the most entertaining DUmbasses in the entire DUmp, is over there on Pitcairn now. I sure hope crazy ThomWV isn't gone. Anyone who wears a necklace made of his own self-extracted teeth deserves a place at the DUmp.

I'm sure this dispensation for elfin DUmbasses does not apply to the miniature prick Allentown Jerk.

Well, our former friend Short Al may consider it a handicap, but this person remembers all too well it was Short Al who nearly brought down a guy 10" taller than him.

Short Al nearly did something all the geniuses of Skins's island, individually or collectively, never came even close to doing; destroying the reputation and credibility of franksolich.

No tiny accomplish for a little guy, there.

It's really weird, that the primitives on Skins's island couldn't ever do that; after all, being human, franksolich is fallible.  And actually, franksolich is more vulnerable than the Enemies of Mankind think he is.

I suppose my saving grace, such as it is, was best described by my younger brother of Immortal Memory when we as teenagers were having a spat about something.  I forget what it was all about, remembering only that it took place under the burning Sandhills sun--but anyway, getting exasperated with me, after he got done cussing, he commented, "You're not smart, in fact you're pretty stupid.  You're just clever, that's all.  There's a difference between being smart and being clever.  You're as dumb as a rock and as sharp as a razor."

I want that engraved on my tombstone.

No.

This is bad news, very bad news.

With my fellow alum Skins mausoleuming so many primitives prominently featured here in the DUmpster, it looks possible the focus of the DUmpster must inevitably shift, from Skins's island to Pitcairn Island.

That's the last thing franksolich wants, because Pitcairn Island ain't nothing, compared with Skins's island.

I think I'm going to have to e-mail my fellow alum Skins another memorandum.

Oh, I will.

As soon as I figure out what to tell him.....diplomatically.

I'm personally not too fond of bringing bonfires from Pitcairn Island over here, but that's just me, speaking as a member.

As a moderator, I fully understand it's the members of the DUmpster who make the DUmpster what it is; I'm just a "leader," in a schlamperei sort of way, in a gemuchlichtkeit sort of way.  As a "leader," my style and manner of "leadership" is simply to follow everybody else, bringing up the rear, being sure that nobody ahead of me falls out of line.

And so if members want to do that, that's fine with me.

Yeah. It was bad enough when TomInTib took the pipe, but now if the wild and crazy ThomWV has been banned, Skimmer's gone over the line. Next thing you know, we'll lose Redstone. Hell, walldude's over there. If he's going to shitcan the true raving lunatics, then what purpose is served by the DUmp? If Skimmer cuts them loose, they may bubble to the surface as representatives of the democrat party at some location frequented by normal people. Skimmer's benefactors would not like for that to happen.

Skimmer should confer amnesty and maybe 5 years' immunity to any DUmmy who finishes in the top 20 in DUmmy Of The Year voting.

OET truly sucks.  It's like a community composed entirely of clones of know-it-all nadinbrzschzkszkcski. But if Skimmer keeps up with these unwise bannings, the other place might get better.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

I like the concept, much like having a PGA Tour card--the better you do, the more exemptions you get.  But with the DUmmies, if one says something incredibly stupid, we could give an automatic exemption, like when a golfer wins a major.

The amnesty will either provide a professional track so to speak for the DU posters to aspire to, or being the corrupt entitlement slobs they are, they will instead of working hard for the honor, will attempt to bribe the voting academy to purchase votes.

Should the latter occur we may need to move away from the people's choice voting mechanism, to a panel of experts who will make the decision (we don't want to see an increase of mole membership done just to obtain voting rights).   Nominations of course being accepted by the membership, but the panel with ultimate decision making authority.
