Texas Bill Would Declare that Receiving Benefits is 'Employment'
« on: December 30, 2010, 12:45:53 PM »
Quote
That would require all Texans receiving welfare to fill out an I-9 form, barring illegals

A measure filed in the Texas Legislature would bar illegal immigrants from receiving virtually all forms of state assistance, 1200 WOAI news reports.

State Rep. Tryon D. Lewis (R-Odessa) has filed a measure which equates receipt of any benefit under a state benefit program to be 'employment.'  And, since the recipient is receiving 'employment,' Lewis says they should have to meet current federal guidelines required of all Americans to receive a job.

His bill would mandate that any recipient of state benefits fill out an I-9 form, which is the standard form all job applicants have to complete to prove that they are citizens or legal residents of the United States.

Seems reasonable to me, but it might play hell with determining actual employment numbers.  As a budget cutting tool, it might work, though.

Cue the DUmmies with their race cards.

While they are at it how about drug tests too? If we have to pee in a cup to earn the money we give to them, they can pee in a cup to get that money from us.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Outstanding. Why ALL states don't require this is a complete mystery to me. Oh, wait. The whole objective of welfare or assistance is to provide funds to people that otherwise are unemployable, too lazy, or don't otherwise qualify for employment.

Silly me.

In this country - you pay tax on all income over the threshold - 10K , everyone also has to file a yearly tax return.

Income includes welfare style payments ,and yes there are many families out there that get quite a livable "wage" out of doing nothing more than pumping out multiple children and knowing how to game the system from successive generations of welfare existence. Even they "pay tax". *rolls eyes*

I bow to your greatness, Thor!  I didn't like Texas when we first moved here but I have grown to love it.  Hell, since we've been here my husband has bought several guns, gotten his CCW permit, and in the last year even bought cowboy boots.  Last April, my son and his girlfriend moved here from Indiana.  Love it here!

Just remember all Y'All Texicans owe a debt of gratitude to us Tennesseans.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.
