Beat it - loser!

Oh noes! The poor man is highly educated, with a PhD, 3 postdocs, 6 published papers, and he is starving!

Most of the DUmmies (except for a few meanies) sympathize with this poor man's plight during this seasonal holiday (don't say the "C" word...DON'T say the ugly "C" word...it's non-inclusive)

Of course, had any of the ants fired up Google, they may have discovered that this was a staged photo from 2006, and the young man with the sign, Kevin Duffy, worked as a regional scientific manager at Astra Zeneca.

But why let reality get in the way of a good rantfest?  :overreaction:
Capitalism is based on self-interest and self-esteem; it holds integrity and trustworthiness as cardinal virtues and makes them pay off in the marketplace, thus demanding that men survive by means of virtue, not vices. It is this superlatively moral system that the welfare statists propose to improve upon by means of preventative law, snooping bureaucrats, and the chronic goad of fear.

You know, sir, it's very odd, the attitude of the educated primitives--there are a few of them--about their college degrees.

They think that just because they have a degree, it "entitles" them to a good job.

Uh, no.

franksolich is perhaps one of the most overeducated people around here (in real life), and doesn't have what might be considered a good job.  It pays the bills and feeds the cats, nothing more than that.

I was already aware, though, when I was a shallow and callow lad of 17 years, that the degree I wanted wouldn't be anything hot on the job market.

(My first B.A. was in the history of the British Empire and Commonwealth.)

I already knew, beforehand, that there probably wouldn't be much of a demand for experts on British parliamentary politics of the 1800s, but I forged ahead anyway.

I don't regret it, although I guess people might wonder why I did it, because superficially, it didn't seem to do me much good.

There was a dipshit a few years ago that hung out at one of the busier intersections over in Spokane. He was there everyday with a sign, will work for food. Most commuters just rolled down their window and handed the guy cash.

The local libber TV station, like there's any other kind, decided to do a human nature story on the guy.

Well, it didn't turn out like they thought it would. They followed the guy the first day, they watched him collect from nearly a hundred well meaning citizens, followed him a coupla blocks, figuring he was most likely headed to his abode, a cardboard box under the freeway someplace, and lo and behold........ he stripped his homeless "uniform", put on some pretty flashy clothes, got in his Mercedes and took off!

Needless to say he was pretty washed up with his "small business" venture, when they followed him to a house that easily could have sold for a ¼ mil! After they were done investigating him, it turns out the guy was pullin' down 5 figures with this ploy and had been at it for years!

He eventually sold out and moved. No idea where, but his neighbors and others, including the real homeless, ran his ass outa town!

ETA:

Oh his sign also said he was a disabled VET! Turns out that was BS, too!

The fact is the asshat won't work for food. I guarantee it!
"Liberalism is an essentially feminine, submissive world view. Perhaps a better adjective than feminine is infantile. It is the world view of men who do not have the moral toughness, the spiritual strength to stand up and do single combat with life, who cannot adjust to the reality that the world is not a huge, pink-and-blue, padded nursery in which the lions lie down with the lambs and everyone lives happily ever after."

This guy is not "working for food" and he's not begging.

Quote
"Some guy gave me his business card," he told me. Someone walking on the set of the shoot asked what they were doing. Even though Kevin told them they were working on an art spread for a magazine, the fellow still took the scene at face value. He apparently pitied our down-on-his-luck doctor and told Kevin he knows someone at a research firm in town. Cards were exchanged and the shoot went on.
