History of the TSA - Don't Blame Dubya
« on: November 23, 2010, 04:12:00 AM »
When Liberals blame the TSA on Dubya. Look at its history. The law that gave birth to the TSA
was written by Dumb-o-cats. Fritz Hollings of S. Carolina was the sponsor. It had 30 co-sponsors.
21 of the 30 co-sponsors were also Dumb-o-crats.

The Aviation and Transportation Security Act (ATSA, Pub.L. 107-71 November 19, 2001) was enacted by the 107th United States Congress in the immediate aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attacks. The Act created the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) within the U.S. Department of Transportation. However, with the passage of the Homeland Security Act, the TSA was later transferred to the Department of Homeland Security. The legislation (S. 1447) was sponsored by Democratic Senator Fritz Hollings and co-sponsored by 30 other Senators.[/size]

This was the bill that got the urban legend going that Max Cleeland's patriotism had been questioned in the 2002 mid terms.

His opponent criticized Max for trying to toss in a caveat to this bill that the screeners get unionized.

Somehow in Liberal Looney land that translated to doubts about Cleeland's patriotism.

The dumb-o-crats wanted a new Federal bureaucracy with unionized, dues-paying government employees, hence the TSA.
Dubya was not a conservative. He went along with it. And too many spineless Republicans went along with it too.

But don't let anyone blame the TSA on the GOP or on Dubya. It has big-government boondoggle written all over it.

We should go back to the Airlines running security.  The terrorists didn't have anything unauthorized at the time, so the system in place was keeping the prescribed items off of the planes.
