Miller alleges write-in ballot voter fraud
« on: November 23, 2010, 10:51:33 AM »
Quote
[the lawsuit] claims that in several precincts, the handwriting on "many or all" write-in ballots appears to be from the same person, or a small group of people. It claims this is a violation of state law, which says the voter must write the candidate's name. This, however, could be due to voters receiving requested, allowable aid in filling out ballots.

The lawsuit says the state has ignored state law requirements implemented to prevent voting fraud and uphold the integrity of the process, "thereby casting serious doubt on the returns from certain precincts."

I don't know if the charge has merit but the fact that this is an internicine fight amongst republicans, as opposed to one party vs. another, might be ou best hope for having a judge actually, seriously review the evidence.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

is sounds like elections in alaska have been a mess for a long time.  but what I have never understood at times like this is what is the remedy to a fraudulent election?  hold another fraudulent election?

if the legislature isn't willing to clean it up, and then enforce the election laws -- and parts of alaska are sooooo remote that it would be a daunting task in itself  -- then anyone could claim voter fraud after an election in alaska.

don't get me wrong,  I would MUCH rather have miller in the senate than princess lisa, but I'm not sure what additional challenges would accomplish . . . perhaps it would highlight the existing problems, and spur the legislature to action.  but it's extremely unlikely to put miller in the senate.

This mess started when they allowed different spellings and decided to go with "voter intent".

exactly.  the mess started when they deviated from existing state election law.  and that should instantly make you wonder if alaska doesn't have deeper problems than are apparent right now;  are the election irregularities the disease, or a symptom of a bigger, deeper problem?

just for example, and just off the top of my head;  watching sarah palin get drug in front of her own ethics commission a dozen times for offenses such as wearing a parka with a logo on it is just deranged.

It seems like they allow anyone to file ethics charges no matter how little evidence there is to support the claims.

ETA:  I seem to remember Lord Zero wearing some coat or jacket with a logo on it that was so blatant that the company used it on a billboard in NYC.
