Warren Buffett: I 'Should Be Paying A Lot More In Taxes'

WASHINGTON -- Billionaire Warren Buffett rebutted claims that the Obama administration is unjustly hurting business orders with high taxes by saying that in fact, the wealthy have never had it so good.

"I think that people at the high end, people like myself, should be paying a lot more in taxes. We have it better than we've ever had it," he told ABC's Christiane Amanpour in a clip played on "This Week" on Sunday.

When Amanpour pointed to critics' claims that the very wealthy need tax cuts to spur business and capitalism, Buffett replied, "The rich are always going to say that, you know, 'Just give us more money, and we'll go out and spend more, and then it will all trickle down to the rest of you.' But that has not worked the last 10 years, and I hope the American public is catching on."

Tell you what Warren the IRS does take donations. So feel free to write a huge check to them.
Also if you believe in wealth redistribution then how about we take all your money and split it up amongst the people?
You could sell off all your companies like GEICO and take care of a ton of poor people.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Exactly. Every one of these uber-wealthy liberals that think they should pay more, are free to do so at any time.  He could take several billion dollars and make a few millionaires out of poverty stricken people, and in a couple of years most of those people would be poor again.

Every time I hear Soros talking about wealth redistribution I scream at the radio let's start with your wealth.

He and Warren could feed a lot of poor people.

Nothing preventing billionaires and millionaires from paying more on their taxes, just don't take a refund, and if you owe? pay more on your own.

This has been an issue here in Nebraska for years, ever since Warren first said that.

Warren Buffett of course lives in Nebraska.

Every time he says it, there appears lots and lots of letters to the newspapers all over the state, from readers who remind Warren that if he thinks he doesn't pay enough in taxes, there's nothing stopping him from sending the government a check for whatever amount he thinks he should be paying in taxes.

The guy's a billionaire, but he's also like, really shallow.

Obama groups people like my husband with Warren Buffett. It would be laughable if it weren't so scary.

He always throws out there that his secretary pays a larger percentage of her income in taxes than he does. The trick is he was using percentage and not actual dollar amount. Hers is based on her salary while he is earning his money on capital gains. Most billionaires don't make a majority of their income through a paycheck so raising the taxes on highly paid people and small business owners won't affect the truly rich.

Considering how much the old bastard does to float Lib causes and politicos, it really wouldn't bust my ass if he spent the rest of his life in an IRS audit.

Exactly people like him also have a team of lawyers who make sure his tax burden is low even if they raised the rate to 90% like the goons want he would pay much less than that.

High taxes on the "rich" would hurt the small business man or woman the most.

Good for the people of Nebraska. They should do that. Kudos to them for calling him on it. :cheersmate:

Warren Buffett pays a capitol gains tax not an income tax. There is nothing to stop him from paying extra money to the Government. The amazing thing is people actually take advice from that asswipe like it was from GOD himself. No Thanks he may have mader billions but I'd rather not share in whatever he has done seeing as how he can't give better advice then this and he couldn.t even be faqithfull to his wife long enough to water his lawn.
