Oh my.

The "backstory" on the violently crumbling primitive is that she's from Australia, and a notorious anti-Semite; also, she was the primitive who danced most on the grave of the much-beloved Tangerine LaBamba eleven months ago.

The "I/P forum" is the Israeli-Palestinian forum on Skins's island.

THE VIOLENTLY CRUMBLING PRIMITIVE

Two questions about the I/P forum...

My questions have to do with the I/P forum. The first is do the mods only delete posts if they recieve alerts on them, or do they get more active and delete rule violations they spot when reading the threads? And if someone in the forum has a long record of deleted posts, is that taken into account when looking at whether they'll be tombstoned or not?

I'm concerned as I have a pretty clean posting history, but a few months back it was like every single post I did was getting deleted. I hadn't changed my posting style, so I contacted the mods to ask what I needed to do to make it so my posts weren't being deleted. I got no reply, though it's been rare between then and today that any of my posts get deleted, and what worries me is that I could get banned and the rationale for it would be that I had a lot of deleted posts...

The second is about a rule change that happened in the I/P forum a few months ago. OPs that use Electronic Intifada as a source started to be locked with a message from the mod saying it wasn't an acceptable source in the I/P forum. I contacted the mods asking why that decision had been made, and though I and others got no response, one friend of mine contacted you and you asked the mods and my friend got told that the reason was because the policy for the I/P forum is to allow sites that "encourage dialog and openness towards a respectful peace process and disallow those sites whose bias is so extreme as to be contrary to this."

I'm fine with that except that sites which are contrary to that policy are allowed to be used to start OPs in the I/P forum. CAMERA, Honest Reporting, Arutz Sheva (that one's not merely extremely partisan, but is run by extremist settlers and contains hatred and bigotry towards Arabs and Muslims). Why isn't the policy that my friend was told about applied to all sources used to start OPs in the I/P forum?

Also, I know long ago when I first joined DU, another pro-Palestinian source (Palestine Remembered) had been banned from the forum as some DUers had claimed it was bigoted, and DUers were able to put up an argument that it wasn't, and the ban was lifted. Is there any chance we could put forward an argument for lifting the ban on Electronic Intifada that would be considered?

Sorry to land that on you when I know you've got yr hands full with issues in other forums, but the EI thing has been like a rusty nail itching away at me ever since it happned....

1. Answers.

The moderators in the I/P forum will take action even if they do not receive alerts.

I discussed Electronic Intifada with the I/P moderators, and they explained that the site has increasingly aligned itself with more extremist views. I trust the I/P moderators, and in this case I will defer to their judgment.

Good on you, Skins, sir.
