How many vote straight ticket?
« on: November 02, 2010, 10:25:20 AM »
Watching the DUmp it pisses me off to no end how proud they are to have voted a straight ticket.  It doesn't matter what the person they are voting for stands for ... just that they have a (D) behind their name.

I have never in my life voted a straight ticket.  Today I voted for mostly (R)'s but in the local there were several (D)'s I voted for.  I personally know the folks on the local ballot.  A couple of them got my vote and were Democratics and a couple of them got my vote and were Republican.  One of them was a Democratic but is now a Republican simply because the Democrat seat was filled.  He didn't get my vote.

Anyway, just curious as to how many of us simply 'pull the lever' because of the (R) behind the name.  I don't think it will be many if any.  I think a little lot more thought goes into our vote.

For what it's worth .... I think I saw the DUmmies name on the ballot.  Wasn't his name Jeff Weems??

That's where I saw the name.  I tried to scratch it out on the screen so no one else could see it to vote for him!  [/DU mode]

Same here....Why would anyone vote for someone with (R) behind their name when you know they aren't the right person for the job?

I may have done it once or twice, but I don't as a general rule.  I've never voted for a Democrat, but I have withheld my vote from a few Republicans that I was not happy with.

Had I simply voted straight ticket here's what would have happened;

Our former Constable who was a Democratic and was defeated for his position in the last elections would have been elected as our Justice of the Peace as a Republican.

That's one of several reasons I couldn't pull the lever straight (R).

I did vote straight ticket, but took the time to make sure I wanted to vote that way!  We also got to vote about retaining judges...voted NO on every one of them just to even things out.   ;D

Usually, I've found a couple of Dems worth voting for. This time, I went straight ticket. R all the way down the line. I really didn't want to vote for Perry, but, the alternatives were worse, IMO.

I voted straight ticket for the first time in a long time.  We had 4 races to vote on here though.

I really wish the option of straight ticket voting would be eliminated.  Than again, I'm also one who tends to not bother voting for some of the minor races like Head Librarian of the Township Library System, who I haven't researched or possibly care to research.  No disrespect to any librarians of course  :-)  I heart the dewey decimal system  :cheersmate:
