Your vomit-inducing thought for the day.

Edited on Tue Nov-02-10 01:15 PM by WilliamPitt

If the Senate races break 50-50, or even 51-49, Joe Lieberman will pretty much become the most powerful Democrat in the chamber. History has shown many times over that Mr. Lieberman is not reluctant about throwing his weight around in the caucus, and has never been shy about holding his party hostage to get what he wants.

The Doomsday Scenario for the Democrats, of course, is a 50-50 tie that allows Lieberman to hold a gun to the party’s head, said gun being a threat to switch parties and join the GOP. The Super Epic Doomsday Scenario would be Lieberman following through on such a threat and actually switching parties. Joe is still nettled at his fellow Democrats after his last campaign, so it would not be a galloping shock to see something like this happen before too much time passes. It would be the Jim Jeffords scenario in reverse, and would hand all of Congress to the GOP (presuming the polls are right about the GOP taking the House today, that is).

So, yeah, watch the Senate races closely today. The smaller the majority margin becomes, the bigger Joe Lieberman gets.

Better get your barf-bags handy, Wee Willie.

And I JUST had my breakfast!

Are there no depths so low that he cannot or will not sink to them?

Leiberman is an independent.  He caucuses with the Dems.  If, he were to caucus with the Republicans, that is where the damage will be done, shifting the caucus to a republican majority.  I do not believe that he would do that, he is a democrat by nature, but he will have considerable power as a needed swing vote for both sides ICO a 50/50 tie.  Remember, the VP as president of the Senate has the tie breaking vote.
You see, I don't care you how feel.  I really don't.  More importantly, neither does anyone else.  Only about 200 people on a planet of 7 billion actually care about your feelings, and that's if you're lucky.  The sooner you grasp this lesson, the better off you will be.  And since almost no one gives a damn what you do, say, think, or feel, appealing to your feelings when you encounter differences of opinion is not only illogical, but useless.

I read this last week, it's interesting:

I'd love to annoy the Democrats by having him caucus with us but do we really need another Specter, Graham and McCain?

Ben Nelson will jump before Lieberman has even contemplated leaving the donk caucus.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Nelson is ****ed in 2012 because of his vote for the Health Care Deform bill.  He knows this.  He just might try to jump ship to save his sorry ass.  Hopefully, the Coach's neighbors will see right through this and elect the current Governor (I can't remember the proper spelling of his name right now, and hydrocodone isn't helping) to the United States Senate as a Conservative Republican.
