Mortos (1000+ posts) Tue Nov-02-10 12:01 PMOriginal message Is anybody else really excited about today or just me? I know the predictions are dire. I know most Democrats in my backward ass state of Oklahoma will lose. I know all of the media have been trumpeting a republican tsunami for the last 6 months. But I am excited and, dare I say it, hopeful. I think many Americans will be voting today and most support our president and democratic ideals. The republicans have showed themselves to be hateful, spiteful and useless for the last two years while the President has consistently showed compassion, thoughtfulness and cooperation. That isn't lost on the average middle of the road voter. All of the Obama bashing has fired up the base and we are not "sitting this one out." The Tea Party pukes are fired up too but there are a hell of a lot less of them than people who support Democratic platforms as evidenced by the pathetic turnout for their rally's and marches as compared to the turnout for the President and Jon Stewart's Rally. We beat them 3 - 1. President Obama is showing support over 50% in recent polls which is much, much better than republicans, the tea party or Sarah Palin.Get out and vote. Encourage people you know to vote Democratic and keep a stiff upper lip. We could pull this thing off and wouldn't that **** up all the naysayers?
soon as you find your manhood all else falls into place.
If Ft. Hood was "workplace violence," then the Hindenburg was an air show.
I don't know if sand glows in the dark, but we're gonna find out.
Mortos (1000+ posts) Tue Nov-02-10 01:13 PMResponse to Original message 10. I voted at 8:33 this morning I was voter 164 on 1 of two scanning machines. That is a pretty big turnout for a mid-term election. I think the media predicting a landslide victory for republicans may have fired up Democrats and independents who don't like to be told they are losers before a single vote has been cast. I had a friend I used to work with text me this morning and ask how I voted on every single candidate and state question. I haven't seen anyone I know turn away from Obama and, in fact, one right wing young man has become a born again Democrat and has spent a huge amount of time working on the campaign of Dana Orwig, a Democratic candidate for Congress (I think his right wing parents would have preferred he come out as gay than as a Democrat).
"The nation that couldn’t be conquered by foreign enemies has been conquered by its elected officials" odawg Free Republic in reference to the GOP Elites who are no difference than the Democrats
