Developing a campaign apparatus is not easy and this idea could help considerably in
candidates “ plugging†into larger existing local networks already in place for candidates.
Problem to be Fixed: Redeveloping a new campaign apparatus of volunteers, donors,
staff, etc. is costly every cycle for new candidates. To have a large apparatus already in
place for when a candidate starts his or her campaign would be a huge boost.
To be honest a pure internet solution to this local problem is probably not going to work.
But using the internet to help facilitate this local issue can work. Essentially, I have
envisioned a profile system similar to candidate donor matching system I described in my
last post.
A website is created for local Tea Party Chapters, County Parties, etc. to post a profile
to develop growth strategies. Example A: Local tea party group in some random county
develops a plan for growing fundraising for the group and posts it on its profile. If donors
like the plan they contribute to the local group so they can have the money to execute the
plan. Example B: Local GOP party just doubled their membership in a year due to a very
successful program they started last year. To reward those results and to encourage more
of it folks donate money to that local party.
Now there are probably more, but local groups have 3 big objectives that we would want
them to see grow: Local fundraising, increasing the activist/volunteer/member base of the
group, and developing better communications with local donors, activists, etc. Basically,
all a candidate would have to do is come into that organization and using a developed
communications network talk directly to the local activists and donors to get the ball
rolling on the local level a lot easier.
Template: At the top would be the group name, the area that it encompasses (county,
region, etc.), details about the seats that organization helps with, and a description of the
group. Current members, how often they meet, etc. It would then have 2 broad sections.
1 being plans and the other being results. These two sections encompass their pitch for
donor funds.
