Tea Party Terrorists intimidating voters in Texas   Updated at 9:49 AM

Harris County, the biggest county in the state, is where a Tea Party group called the King Street Patriots launched an anti-voter fraud initiative called "True the Vote," which recruited poll watchers and amped up fears over groups like the community organizing group ACORN.

Chad Dunn, a lawyer who is representing the Texas Democratic Party, told TPMMuckraker a number of witnesses have been interviewed by Civil Rights Division lawyers already. "We've gotten a number of reports -- quite a few out of the Houston area -- that poll watchers, King Street Patriot training poll watchers, are following a voter after they've checked them out and stand right behind them," Dunn said. There's at least a dozen reports that they could confirm with witnesses, he said. "Interestingly, it's all in the polling places in Hispanic and African-American areas," he added.

Terry O'Rourke, the first assistant in the Harris County Attorney's office, told TPMMuckraker that there have been allegations of poll watchers talking to voters, which they are not allowed to do, as well as hovering over voters as they are waiting to vote. He said the complaints came from Kashmere Gardens, Moody Park, Sunnyside and other predominantly minority neighborhoods of the county.

Other than mouthing something about tax cuts, librul media and ObamaCare the Political Representative of the Tea Party Terrorists was unable to respond.

Here's a response you DU hiding puss-tard:

When ACORN focused on black and Hispanic areas, THAT'S racism.

When 96% of a group votes for a candidate because of their skin color, not their policies, THAT'S racism.

When NBPP thugs stood outside a polling place wielding nightsticks, THAT'S racist terrorism.

1. Thugs and brownshirts. . in the service of tin pot dictators.

It is an old, old story.
I'd rather deal with a government bureaucrat who doesn't care if I die than a corporate one who's livelihood depends on it.

I think you mean the purple shirts of the SEIU.

BTW - DUmbest sig line ever. I don't usually include sigs because they confuse the thread but when did corporations ever make money by killing customers? Last time I checked the corporate paradigm was to nurture return business.

2. That's a major part of the election plan this year

Spread Florida 2000 across the country - prevent minorities from voting.

This bullshit line of propaganda is based on ONE police car being parked on the side of a road 2MILES away from a polling station on a road that wasn't a major thoroughfare.

Of course one has to wonder about a electoral demographic that finds the police intrinsically threatening because after all, the l'il fascists in this very thread are making an appeal to law enforcement--the police--to arrest their political opposition.

The local republican party is asking for volunteers to be poll watchers. Something they have never had before. They want a few especially for certain polls, AKA the "black boxes"(hint hint). Only people of a certain color and a very strong constitution would be able to watch those polling places which creates a little problem. They are people that could do it but they would have "to come out of the closet" so to speak. And around here that would be a form of suicide only slightly short of death.

I got a dumb question...I know the democrats have always had poll watchers ( :rotf:, uh-huh, sure) but I'd like to know if there is a limit to how many you can have?

....and no I haven't volunteered to be one.

Yes lets do all we can to distract from the fact that ACORN in Houston was caught dead to rights in voter fraud.

I think the Harris County polls should be watched very closely. Sheila Jackson Lee is up for reelection, Bill White is their former Mayor, running for Governor, and they are using brand spanking new equipment, due to all of their other machines catching on fire earler this year.

A massive fire destroyed thirty million dollars worth of voting equipment back in August. Though arson has not been ruled out the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

This is for the lurkers.  You wanna know why TruthTheVote came about?  Read this if you have the guts:

Quote
Two weeks ago the Harris County voter registrar took their work and the findings of his own investigation and handed them over to both the Texas secretary of state's office and the Harris County district attorney.

Most of the findings focused on a group called Houston Votes, a voter registration group headed by Steve Caddle, who also works for the Service Employees International Union. Among the findings were that only 1,793 of the 25,000 registrations the group submitted appeared to be valid. The other registrations included one of a woman who registered six times in the same day; registrations of non-citizens; so many applications from one Houston Voters collector in one day that it was deemed to be beyond human capability; and 1,597 registrations that named the same person multiple times, often with different signatures.

Caddle told local newspapers that there "had been mistakes made," and he said he had fired 30 workers for filing defective voter registration applications. He could not be reached for this article.

"The integrity of the voting rolls in Harris County, Texas, appears to be under an organized and systematic attack by the group operating under the name Houston Votes," the Harris voter registrar, Leo Vasquez, charged as he passed on the documentation to the district attorney. A spokesman for the DA's office declined to discuss the case. And a spokesman for Vasquez said that the DA has asked them to refrain from commenting on the case.

The outcome of the efforts grew in importance the day after Vasquez made his announcement. On the morning of Aug. 27, a three-alarm fire destroyed almost all of Harris County's voting machines, throwing the upcoming Nov. 2 election into turmoil. While the cause wasn't determined, the $40 million blaze, according to press reports, means election officials will be focused on creating a whole new voting system in six weeks.

But hey...go ahead and stick your fingers in your ears and pretend it's because Republicans are "brown shirts".  Morons.

Indeed.  Between the fire, replacement machines,  and the Houston Votes group that TRG referenced, it is a perfect storm for voter fraud.  Kind of like a hurricane, but without the water.

WOW! Tea Party Terrorism, huh?!? God forbid that true Americans take a stand for their Country and try to shake out the corruption. Can we still say the word, "God" still?! Maybe if they stood outside the polling station with some billy clubs and knifes, they may have gotten a "free pass"?! :whatever: ::) Red diaper doper babies at it again. I guess this is what happens when your momma's daddy suggests you be raised with an outright communist.
