LA JOYA — A morbidly obese woman, who authorities say killed her 2½ -year-old nephew with two blows to the head, has been charged with capital murder.

Mayra Lizbeth Rosales, who weighs at least 800 pounds, was arrested and arraigned in her La Joya bedroom Wednesday morning for the death of Eliseo Gonzalez Jr. The 27-year-old bedridden woman was photographed and fingerprinted at home before being released on a personal recognizance bond, Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino said.

Jamie Lee Rosales, the boy's mother and Rosales' sister, was also arrested on a charge of injury to a child, accused of failing to protect the boy. She was being held on $50,000 bail.

This is so sad!  :bawl: There is nothing I hate more, then evil people hurting/killing innocent children. They don't deserve that.

Probably too much trouble to keep her locked up, they'd have to make some special arrangements for her size; and as TVDOC says, she's hardly a flight risk. If she's guilty she should be locked up for life on a diet of nutraloaf.

That's true -- at 800 lbs she has her own gravitational pull.  When they convict her I don't know how they will accommodate her.  Monk's Dale The Whale setup only exists on TV.
