Once widely considered the greatest action film director on the planet, it's been better than a decade now since John McTiernan made anything anyone cared about and fans hoping for a come back are going to have to wait a little while longer.
The Die Hard and Predator director has just been sentenced to a year in prison for his part in the
Anthony Pellicano illegal wiretapping case. Basically what this boils down to is that McTiernan knowingly hired a private detective who used illegal wiretaps to gather information and lied when asked about it by investigators.
The blow here for fans is that McTiernan actually was on the comeback trail when this went down, with his first feature in eight years - the horribly titled The Camel Wars - currently listed as in production. Guess not so much now.
