The Coffee Party, a progressive response to the conservative Tea Party movement, is in the midst of wrapping up the early registration phase for its upcoming National Convention in Louisville, Kentucky.

The event, scheduled to take place on September 24 through the 26 at the Galt House Conference Center in Louisville, is billed as a chance "to reset the national dialogue so that we can address the challenges that we face as fellow Americans instead of partisans in a spectator sport."

According to the schedule, the convention will focus on a variety of workshops revolving around a few different themes, such as Coffee Party "strategy," "Candid Talk about Issues," "Voter Participation," and "Good Government."

I'm reading the comments section at HuffPo in reference to the article and I'm shocked at the # of Republicans posting there, for some reason I thought it was like the DU and intelligent Republican discussion wasn't wanted.

Is that name the only reason a bunch of liberals would go to Kentucky?  Were they trying to be cute in picking the place?

Interesting isn't it? maybe that lends credence to their comment of trying to be bi-partisan?

Really it's one of the major venues in Louisville, I've been to a couple of things there in the past.  It's about the right size for business conventions, average trade shows, regional SF conventions, that sort of thing.  I hope they can book some other business in with the coffee party or they may take a hit on it.  Well, I suppose the MSM will have plenty of people there taking rooms to fill up the remaining 80% of the rooms and meeting space, since they'll try to promote the Coffee Pukers as an actual thing instead of the Potemkin village it really is.

That'll be a neat trick since there's probably 8 people in the entire group.  :-)

Coffee party urges voters to get involved at Louisville convention

The Coffee Party USA  — which was founded on Facebook and is holding its first national convention in Louisville this weekend — bills itself as a more thoughtful and reasoned alternative to the tea party.

The discussion before about 350 people at the Galt House touched on policy, politics and values and how to bridge the partisan divide.

More proof they just-don't-get-it. Good.
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

I have been to Louisville six times out of the past ten years to attend the Wonderfest Model Convention. It's been going on for over 20 years and I can bet that even it would be bigger on any given day then this so called coffee party
