Obama school speech
« on: September 14, 2010, 05:54:37 AM »
Got in my kids backpacks a permission slip for them to watch a speech from Obama like the one he gave last year. I signed it not only with a huge NO but a hell no. What I am wondering are any of you parents are feeling the same as me? My second grader let alone my freshman needs to see him in school it is bad enough that he is on the tv or the news all of the time

Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it, misdiagnosing it and then misapplying the wrong remedies.

:hi5: to ya for the "Hell no!" response on the permission slip!  Our son was on strict orders (from us) last year to keep any sarcasm to himself during that waste of time.  It was recorded and shown later in the week, I believe. We had told him to state his reasoned opinion if asked by the teacher but no "riffing" during it. (hopefully he complied! :evillaugh:)

He's now in a Catholic high school and I have no idea if they intend to make the kids watch it this year. Hopefully not!

Either they aren't showing it here or they don't care what the parent's think.  By the time I heard about the speech it was too late to investigate.  Last time one kid watched it and the other kid didn't.  Neither one cared about it.
All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.
