You can call them "offspring" if you want.

I call them "future T-bone steaks".   :yum:

I keep 2 every other year. Their names are always "Ribeye, and T-bone"!
I'm the guy your mother warned you about!

They say you shouldn't name your food because then it becomes a pet. But, it looks like you've found the perfect solution.  :rotf:

I knew a guy who had a couple of pigs.  He named one, "Carnitas," and the other, "Ham Sandwich."

I wish I could agree, but the taste and quality of a sirloin or ribeye that I buy at WallyWorld are NOT the same as ones that I buy at grocery stores elsewhere in this area.  They may buy them from the same sources where you live, but not here--there's simply no way.

I'm gonna go with Sparky on this......our local  WalMart's meat is pretty second rate, compared to the local supermarket.  However, we buy most of our meat from Sam's Club, which is sourced very differently than WalMart, even though they are the same company.  I don't know where the WalMart Distribution Center gets their meat, but I do know where Sam's Club gets theirs, and its not the same place.

Our local Sam's Club buys local meat from the Missouri Cattlemen's Association packing plant about thirty miles from here (I've seen MCA trucks unloading at Sam's, and they advertise the fact that they are the primary supplier for Sam's, as well as most of the better restaurants like Ruth's Chris, and Jack's Stack Barbeque in town), and it is cut and packaged right in the store.  It is quite good and reasonably priced.

One of the advantages of living in "cattle country" is that we can also drive out and buy it directly form the MCA, we pay a little more than at Sam's, but they will select the best portions, and custom cut it the way you want, vacuum seal it, and flash-freeze it (if you wish) in a liquid Nitrogen vat.

We have a place called "Cash and Carry"  caters to the local restaurants...but open to the public,  the meat is awesome. I buy a 18 pound rib roast for  about 3 bucks a pound.....slice it into 1 1/2"  rib eye steaks.............mmmmmmm...  Wal-mart meat is awful.
