Does/Did your baby fall asleep in odd places?
« on: August 15, 2010, 08:49:12 PM »
A couple of weeks ago, my daughter fell asleep in her activity jumper.  It was 7:30pm.

Last night, she fell asleep in her chair.  We gave her her dinner.  About 10 minutes later, I heard snoring and noticed she fell asleep.  And then she fell asleep in her chair again tonight while eating.  She was working on her second turkey dog when my husband & I noticed her eyes were drooping.

I was able to get pictures tonight.

Is this normal?  She has never fallen asleep in weird places until this month.  It's too cute.

My 4th child once fell asleep underneath our sofa.

My brother's 5th child once fell asleep on the toilet, with her head pillowed on the paper roll.

A cousin once fell asleep behind the bed in the spare bedroom, sitting on a box.

All 3 incidents led to a panic-stricken search with much screaming of the child's name before they were found.

My 3rd child once fell asleep at the table, on bar stools, with his butt on one and his head on a lower one.

My brother used to fall asleep chewing food. My parents had a rough time with him. He's had the Heimlich more than once. He fell asleep once in the tub when he was around 10. My mom kept banging on the door, and he wouldn't answer. She went in and he'd fallen asleep, and the only thing sticking out of the tub was his nose. My mother went into a panic. This is the same kid who would fall asleep lying on the floor putting on his pants. I 'd walk in and he'd be lying on his back with his legs in the air, pants halfway up, conked out. I think he had a sleep disorder.

That definitely sounds like a sleeping disorder.  Does he still fall asleep doing normal, every day things today?

He grew out of it thankfully. It was a mess.

Narcolepsy

That's what we thought. I am not sure if you can grow out of that, but he doesn't do that anymore.

My now teenage son would climb into his toy box to take a nap.

It is normal.  Kids get tired and don't care where they are.  I used to just let them sleep.
All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.
